Advices needed on identifying this 1665 Great White
Dear all:
I am seeking advice to identifying this 1665 with the photos provided by seller. Basic info for the watch: Serial number is 619XXXX, 1980 production. Seller claimed the Super Dom was Original, not replacement parts. Comes with 585 end link along with 93150 bracelet and claps stamped VE. My questios are 1. Is this a MKIII or MK IV dial for 1665 or replacement dial? Do hands look original to you? Noted: Although the dots looks white, when I saw it, it is more like Milky White with a touch of fade yellow. 2. Does the Bezel and Bezel Insert looks replacement? 3. Claps match the 1980 production correct? 4. Feel free to point out any areas that may look questionable to you. Deeply appreicated for all your inputs helping me to find my next Grail Watch. BR Ken |

Hi Ken, don't know what MKIII/IV dial differences are, nor a Super Dome, but if it's any reassurance I own a 1665 6.7 mil from new and mine looks identical to the one your pictured.
Same hands, dome, dial and bracelet numbers iirc, although at one RSC service my dial was either repainted of replaced with an identical-looking luminova dial which yours too seems to have (much better in the dark than the tritium which would have yellowed and flaked by now). I'm also on my 3rd dome, maybe 4th and have had my beaten up bezel and insert replaced over the years, though apart from looking brand new compared to the case, I'm not sure if one can tell a replacement from a mint condition original. So I would guess on a watch that old the dial has probably been replaced/repainted, but all the rest looks original. I can point you to pix of mine if you like but I'm sure there are plenty around and anyway, an expert will be here shortly. cks |

To me this is a very nice looking 1665. You should request pics of the serial and reference numbers to be more sure it's ok!
This is a MKIII dial. It is difficult to see if the hands are luminova or tritium. Insert is most likely replacement but if it has a tritium pearl it's fine. The clasp is the old 9 hole type which is fine. I would guess the bracelet is quite new but with the older clasp. The crystal looks like a super dome. The case doesn't look overpolished. BR Klaus |

cks...looking at your old posts with pictures I can see your dial is a MKIV. So these dials are not the same. The difference can be seen by looking at the "R" in Rolex and how the letters "T" and "R" in Oyster are placed accordingly.
