I don't know, but could it be the movement serial number?

I can only tell you what the numbers on my papers mean; it is the type of dial and band the watch originally came with. They were all listed directly following the model number though.

Do any numbers match numbers on your band?

No-the only numbers on the bracelet are 9315 and 380 on the ends.

I just looked at the pics from my 1680 red movement, and it would appear that the numbers on the paper wouldn't correspond to how mine is engraved.

I it possible that it's an identifying number for Bucherer, the authorized Rolex dealer of record?

Err buddy...Orchi would not trust as much about that piece of Rolex paper...

The hand writings were done by at least 2 different persons...

MOST Rolex original Warranty Papers that Orchi has seen...
of SWISS origin...would have the PUNCHED Numbers...

Of course there may be exceptions...
as SOME hardcore dealers may claim...
that the Paper is original to the watch...

"Rolex did strange things..."
"Rolex was very inconsistent..."
"Rolex did this or that..."
"It's RARE..."
n bla bla bla...

there is no question about the authenticity of this paperwork or watch-I'm the original owner. Why some are punched or handwritten remains a mystery to me.

Err buddy Niel...a mystery indeed...

IF they had the means to type your name on it...
when you were buying it in Bucherer Luzern...back then...
would they not do the same with the S/Nos. of your watch?
Why the need to write the details by hand...?

You probably won't recall about it...as it happened so long ago in July 74...
Do you still have the original invoice or receipt...?

Orchi has seen many Warranty Certs of the 80s from Rolex USA origin...
where they would print the S/Nos. n details of the watch on the Cert...

Do you have a picture showing the complete paper...?

thank you for the reply! my name was typed on the certificate much later, sorry for the confusion. Perhaps if I just take the cert into Rolex in Beverly Hills who serviced the watch in 2008, they might have an answer?

IMHO 1610582 maybe is a case serial number as serial numbers in those years were 7 digits. Why there would be 2 serial numbers on a certificate is a mystery to me.

It appears that the paper is also the Chronometer cert and not just the watch warranty..

The number could correspond to the original COSC document. (this is only speculation)
COSC was instituted in 1973, so the dates would correspond..

We have had this qauestion before on unusual numbers above the serial on handwritter early papers... I don't think that we have ever had anybody who absolutely knew the answer........

Wow-I had no idea they had closed. I guess I was one of the last to have had my watch serviced there in Feb 2008. A sign of the times and a bad economy. Even Rolex seeks to consolidate when they can save a buck.
