Looks like you identified it!
What in particular do you want to know?

Thanks Adam. Just curious how you might describe it, in terms of the type (style?), bezel, dial, hands etc. This watch belonged to grandfather and everything I know about rolex and watches I've learned in the last two weeks on this forum. I sent it to Mark
Sirianni for an overhaul and hope to have it back next week, with some better photos, but really any observations you may have would be helpful. Clearly the band is not original but what about the the rest of the watch? I really haven't seen anything similar on the web so I'm not sure what I have. |

Well, that's about all I know about it. It belonged to my grandfather. I had a hard time finding much about the 6099 series so I'm not really sure how to describe what I have. Any observations you may have about the bezel, dial, hands, etc. would be appreciated. In looking on the web I haven't seen a similar dial. Clearly the band isn't original but wasnt sure what else might be different. I have sent it to be overhauled and should have it back next week and can post some better pictures. Thanks for your help!

From the SN and styling it appears to date from about 1953. The inner case back should have a date of manufacture (down to the quarter of the year). It should have a big bubbleback type automatic movement (these were in production until the mid-late '50s), and it appears to post-date the Super Oyster crown (this doesn't seem to screw down all the way? A new crown/case tube are probably in order).
The dial looks original, and the engine-turned bezel is well-preserved. Very nice looking watch, and it should restore very nicely indeed. Don't ever touch the dial! You can put it on a nice leather or exotic strap if you want to retire that bracelet. I am not knowledgeable about that particular case reference number, sorry. It's probably not valuable in a monetary sense, but the sentimental value supersedes that. I have a number of heirloom watches myself, from my father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

I'm not sure that the bracelet is original to the watch...
I believe that the hands are called "feuille", which are similar to the dauphine hands..

That would look sweet with the correct bracelet. I really would like to see follow up pictures if you don't mind. That's a very nice find (inheritance). You should be very happy with that one!
