Submariner 1665 double red

I need some help in identifying my watch. It's a 1665 with double red writing. On the second line it just has the word Submariner and not the 2000.
I purchased this watch for $350.00 at a Police Auction.
Thanks so much for any help!!
Jeanne

Welcome to the Forum!

Congratulations, if its authentic; otherwise, it was a waste of funds as I am sure they have an "as is" policy. Was the watch guaranteed to be authentic?

Post pics!

This is what I found about the watch on the web.

"The Unique Prototype Double Red Sea-Dweller/Submariner

Model No.: 1665 Circa 1967 Serial Number 1.7 million range.

I believe this dial configuration to be unique, well I have never seen one like it, and its discovery will help us all to understand the Rolex think tank behind the final version of the Double Red Sea-Dweller dial."

Note where you have the picture saved on your computer. On the thread, click "advanced" and scroll down to "manage attachments", hit the "browse" button and locate the picture and download/double click. Then hit "upload" and Voila!

That is the proper description for an authentic model that range.

If you have an authentic Rolex that you purchased for that price, then you are a very fortunate person indeed..

You should make every effort to ensure that it is authentic, then take special care of such a rare and valuable time-piece......

If it's authentic I think you got the deal of the decade. If its not authentic you just kissed away $350. A pretty good gamble I would have taken. Post some pics here or take it to a trusted dealer and have it looked at to see what you got. I'm pretty excited to find out myself.

I will just come right out with it and not beat around the bush--sorry not buying it.
Let's see the pictures--front-back and case sides--then perhaps I can cheer you on!!

Sorry to be snarky, but how many people come on this Forum and their 2nd or 3rd post is some amazing vintage they found for $200 and wow what do I have here...oh by the way, anyone want to buy it??

Seriously, you won't meet a lot of suckers on this Forum - try eBay...

Many apologies if I'm wrong, but these stories just seem awfully suspect! Please prove me wrong with pics!

I had the crystal changed, before I knew what I had, but still have the original crystal.
How dumb am I.

Looks like a DRSD, but based on the pictures, the case back is wrong....
Need better pictures of the dial to tell you more....

the early Dweller/Subs didn't have a valve, hence, no inscription on the caseback...

If authentic, it's the find of the century.....

Could the caseback be a replacement?

Need a better shot of dial--and yes vey cynical--as too many bs posts! What do case sides say--take bracelet off. I would take it to Andrew Shear since you are in NY and let him have a look at it.

Take it to Andrew at ShearTime and let him have a look at it. You can google him and get his number.

That was quite an auction if its genuine !

It looks pretty good all in all. I find the crystal seems a little unusual in that it sits flush. These watches usually had a dome plexiglass, and if the crystal was a flat-top, it usually sits a bit higher. Could this have been fitted with a sapphire ? ( 3rd pic )
