1680 insert assistance needed.

Hey all.

Hope you can help me here.

I am on vacation in Italy and looking at this wonderful White 1680.

The watch seems great and love the patina, however the bezel has me puzzled. Looks to me like a mk1 or mk2 fat font - but this would not be period correct for a white?

Any help and enlightenment will be much appreciated, since I will be leaving tomorrow, and need to make a decision now :P

Cheers

How much are they asking? That looks like a fat font long 5 insert which is worth more than a lot of mk3 inserts

Thanks for your reply - the watch is priced pretty average, but it really speaks to me :)

Inputs more than welcomed.

Thanks - sure looks like a mk2 long 5 to me - if someone could chime in to verify, it looks like I will take it home with me :D

Does look like a long 5 insert but I've never seen one with the top of the 5 hitting the outer edge of the insert and almost being cropped off. Not saying it's not genuine. Just something that's new to me.

Here's an example of another long 5...

Thanks so much guys - fortunately they provide a warranty on all parts being genuine, so guess it can’t really go wrong :)

What’s the serial? Could be an older watch with newer dial.

Whether the insert is a genuine "Long 5" or not, it is incorrect for that dial.

I'd place that dial around 1974/75.

We need first two of the serial to do the detective work....the Insert looks legit and the dial is mark1 1680 white sub dial....like springer said dial is from 74/75 the first dial after the red sub dials....if the dial is original the watch should be 3.8-4 something area...the insert is a long 5 which only came the earliest red subs like the meters first shown....

Wow dial is not original and insert is about 8-10 years older than the watch( just a guess)

That serial would not match this dial (although dial itself looks authentic)

Thank you so much - Will stay clear! What a dissappointment from a serious looking vendor claiming 100% originality :/

Hang on. A 69xxxx serial no. should place it right around 1961...when Subs had pointed crown guards.
Are you sure you're not missing a numeral?

Could you please give us some info regarding this ?
I was always told White Mk1 dials could be found between 1974-5 and 1980.
