Royal Oak Sizing: 15400 vs. 15450

Hi All,

Wanted to get your opinions on sizing and what you think looks better on my wrist. My wrist is roughly 16.5cm and living in Texas I will usually be wearing shirts that will expose my wrist and forearms throughout the majority of the year.

Pictures should only be used for sizing; for the actual watch, I plan on getting a the stainless steel white dial model:

Depends personally on your preferences, but I'd vote for the 37mm 15450. I had the same dilemna for a flat 6.75 inch wrist and am definitely glad I went 37mm. I think the 39mm 15202 would have probably been the ideal size for me, but think it's easier to downsize slightly than to upsize. Also the 15202 is a hefty premium / hard to get ahold of for retail for now

37mm gets my vote b/c it looks like the perfect fit IMO. However, if you want more wrist presence, 41mm is the way to go. Both look fine on you honestly. Good luck!

I went through this very same dilemma with approx the same wrist size as you.
The 37mm looked better on my wrist in pics, and was definitely better as a 'dress watch', but didn't feel quite right to me when I looked at it.
So I sold it and got the 15400.

IMHO, I think our wrists are meant for the 39mm, but at the end of the day, if the 41mm version speaks to you, then go for it my friend.
I just think it's harder to pull off the 41mm if your wrist is less than 7". But many people do it and have no issues.

same wrist size, 39mm jumbo was the perfect fit for me. id say smaller is better than too large though if you have to go 37 or 41

15400 — my wrists are the same size and I have one. The 15450, in theory, might look better, but it never felt right to me. Th 15400 is meant to take up your entire wrist, and it looks really good in those pictures.

Similar wrist size and shape as you it seems, I went for the 15450, didn’t even consider the 15400. Glad I did, the 450 is ultimate comfort. As a personal preference I’d rather have a watch that’s on the smaller side than wear something that looks disproportionately large on me.

definitely the 15450 imo. to me the RO is a dressy-feeling watch and I would want it to wear smaller than an SS rolex for example--the flare of the bracelet also emphasizes the size across the wrist, which is something to keep in mind.

the fact that you'll save a couple grand is a bonus :)

prior to posting the original post, I was leaning towards 15450 (37mm). The 15400 doesn't look bad, but at some particular angles, I cringe at how big it looks on my wrist.

Not that it's significantly driving my purchase, but the $1300 price difference is a sweet deal as well.

37mm looks much more balanced in my opinion.. but I'd also keep in mind the 41 is always going to retain slightly better value if there was ever a situation where you wanted to sell and get something else etc..

You could pull off either - so ultimately it’s down to your personal preference. Be aware the white dial may wear bigger than a darker alternative.

The 400 is heavier on the wrist, both are quite similar for far and have the same presence.
It is up to your personal preference.

15400, you can wear without any issue. I believe the white dial will wear bigger than the darker dial. Personally I like the 39mm (15202 or 15300), but will do the 41mm over the 37mm.

15400 is better in my view. I think 1540 wrist shots look different how it actually looks on the wrist. The dial is too small imo (6.5-6.7 wrist) in comparison to the case and watch overall. Resale on 15450 will also be lower than the actual difference you will pay for the 15400 over 15450.

The 15450 in the pictures looks better. The 15400 in pictures; however, doesn't look completely out of place or extremely large.

But I have to say, pictures (because of the angles and zoom) will always make an item like a watch look bigger. In person, I highly doubt it would make a significant difference especially based on the minor differences you see now.

Go for the 15400, imo. It's personal choice for one and the Royal Oak and ROO line in general are meant to wear (at least) slightly larger than a standard watch. By no means wearing a clock on the wrist, but definitely larger than standard is ok.

Does height really matter in terms of watch size? Never heard of this before lol. I’m 5’6” (1.65m).

For those discussing then resale value on the 15400 being higher than the 15450, I totally agree. BUT I intend to keep/wear this watch for a lifetime and eventually pass it down.

I think my gut is telling me 15450 (37mm). I appreciate all the opinions. This forum never ceases to amaze me.

The 15400 seems massive on my 6.75 inch wrist. I really wish they would reissue something like the 15300.
