As a Rolex enthusiast and collector I must admit that I was ECSTATIC when I initially heard rumors that Rolex was planning on introducing a new complication! I couldn't wait to see the unveil at Basel 2012! From the Basel unveil we all came to realize that the Sky-Dweller has a bitter sweet design that you either hate or love! Aesthetics aside collectors must draw conclusions that the first Rolex annual calander from our beloved company is one to be reckoned with! I am definitely intrigued to see what the company has in store for us in the future... Could this be a segway into creating a perpetual calander? Minute Repeater (most likely not)? Only one can dream and ponder

I aquired both the WG and RG versions....

At the end of the day reference 326135 was the one that made me scream and say... THIS IS IT!

My local time has been set to NY and reference time to Cairo, Egypt

I am inclined to say that as more folks see the piece in person they too will enjoy what Rolex has done in taking steps to enter the realm of Patek and Vacheron.
Sam the general reaction to this watch to which you allude did not deter me one bit - if anything history teaches us that the least popular rolexes of the day go on to become the most sought after and appreciated ...

Totally agree EB as further evidenced in the below references

I am not advocating that the SD is a timeless design, however, marveling at the simple fact it is a ROLEX Annual calendar!

Listen to what my buddy Eric Ku had to say (posted elsewhere)...

I think it would be in their best interests to do so, but with the WG model out now it will be a few years I think.

My dream watch would be a PT Sub Ceramic. It would be the ultimate tool watch due to PT being very corrosion resistant; moreso than stainless.

Factory fresh from Geneva to my AD then to my wrist

---------------------------------------------

Gents please let me clarify, I had to acquire both the WG and RG versions in order to complete my deal with my AD, however, after sitting and pondering which one to keep, went with the Rose version. I moved the WG to a friend/collector and fellow TRF member who rarely post ;-)

Yeah, baby! That RG looks stunning with your skin tone. Beautiful is an understatement.

I will play along too. Here is mine - also went with RG and can't take it off! My pictures are not as good as Sam's and Bendy's, but the watch looks good.

Here are my favorite three -

And a comparison -
