Advice on a trade please.

Hi there,

I have the opportunity to acquire a Rolex President Day-Date 18038 (1978) 18K on a leather band with an 18K rolex tang buckle. It would be an even trade for a Rolex Submariner TT with a Champagne Serti Dial 16613 (2007).

I’m interested if you think its a fair trade? I’ll need to give them an answer fairly soon.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Mattie

No idea if it is "fair", I would not do that trade.

i think the trade is pretty fair from a monetary standpoint. are both watches complete? also, have you worn a day date? to me, they are a little small, perfect to wear with a suit perhaps, but not sporty enough beyond that IMHO. i have a day date circa late 80's and it mostly sits in my safe.

Advice on a trade please.

It's only fair if you can't live without a DD - I'd cherish the serti Sub but that's my own taste. I've had DD's and none sang to me like a Sub of a different stripe.

From a monetary standpoint, I believe that a TT Bluesy and a single quickset DD with GOLD bracelet are not too far off on price. I would think that your watch is worth more than the DD on leather. That said, I am not an expert on either.

No way, dd on a leather strap especially older in maybe 5k unless its flawless. At least get one with thecorrect presidential bracelet. Bc if u want to add that later its 4k plus!

Not a chance, the president bracelet makes the Day-Date IMO.

I think you can find a better deal as several posts have suggested.

I have "cycled", traded nine Rolex watches except for my Serti. Mine has the slate dial. It has to be a really phenomenal deal before I can let this one go.

as other have said, if the watch checks out, the condition is good, it's a complete set with solid service history, etc. the value seems about right for a straight trade. However the serti sub is not that easy to find and is a pretty awesome watch.

I won't do it.

I wouldn't do that trade. Your serti is almost 30 years newer! Perhaps you should reconsider. Now, cash coming in your direction and how much is a completely different story.

i think you're giving up like $2500 - $3500 easily on that... a YG DD w/o double QS or bracelet is like $3500 - $4k on trade.

pass.
