Are you saying you like the look of the solid balance cock over the bridge design

Great photos Larry & Jocke and thanks for that technical info Steven C.

Thank you to both Larry and Jocke.
A) For a great explanation of the differences between brands of watches.
B) For the fantastic detil of the photos - as they say "A pictures can save a thousand words" and that is certainly true in this case.

Glashutte Original take it one step further.

It's so cool with the double swan necks.

That's cool and all, but it would be way cooler if they added a double swan neck on a cock

Nice pics!

Full balance bridge is a nice feature (and been around awhile :-) ), but also a sign of the precision tooling of the machine-made (not hand-made) movements of Rolex.

Does anyone know if the Calibre 3155 in my 1990 day date has the full balance bridge. Although the current 36 mm uses the 3155 think it received the full bridge later?

Those two Rolex calibres the what 3135 and the 3035? Both of those have provisions for adjusting the height of the blance bridge in the case of the 3135 those two gold nuts underneath the bridge actually control the tilt and height of the bridge. This allows you to adjust for minor differences in replacement parts. Restaffing a Rolex is actually rather painless.

Don't get me wrong I respect what omega brings to the table, but their tolerances aren't as tight and the frequency/lift angles they use are not as stable. Some of their Highline pieces MAY come close, @ that point your talking $10k plus pricepoint.

Rolex for the most part use a higher frequency that the ETA calibres are capable of. That is where tolerances come into play. That is why Rolex is an awesome brand, consistancy in cases movements and materials. Only the best materials and machining that cad and cam have to offer. Repeatablity is a hallmark of excellence.
Thanks for sharing.

Yes.
More precisely it's a Kif shock protection system shown in Jocke's pics.
It functions much the same as Incablock and Diashock and what ever the propriety system Rolex is using now in their latest generation movements.

I can't see the difference at the bridge. Maybe you talk about the shock protection system?

That is not a different bridge, the hairspring stud holder is just at a different angle to adjust for beat error.
