Rolex GMT Master WG 116719BLRO with blue dial discontinued!

Regards from Zürich, Switzerland!

I just visited three AD’s: no steel models, but plenty of full gold and some TT models. Such a nice service, beutiful shops and overall excellent atmospere here!

I also heard from two official AD’s here that GMT master II, wg, with blue dial is now discontinued! Amazing!!! It was just released in 2018 Basel, so it was less than a year in production!!

I happen to own one—wearing it right now; original blue dial version which I got from my lovely AD in Finland, last June!
A very special watch for me and now discontinued. Only very few people happen to own this original blue dial GMT!!
I still can’t publish any pics for you—sorry for that.... Tapatalk and iPhone not working properly...

Very strange. Why would they discontinue a new offering so quickly?

I got also verifocation from Lucerne:
The AD there said also that they won’t continue the wg gmt with blue dial—he was also amazed that it has been out only less than a year... he thought that it is because of this new steel ”pepsi” that messed things up with wg gmt...
Three different AD’s, all referring to blue dial... I was wearing my blue dial Basel 2018 GMT while visiting these AD’s—they all started the discussion once they saw my GMT... ”You are lucky... that one is discontinued...”

It will now be worth upwards of two million euros for a complete set, and self-shred upon delivery to owner nr 2.

The dealer was confused.

ALL Rolex models have been discontinued in favor of Tudor, Cellini and whatever other brands they sell at those dealers.

Or perhaps they'll change it for a pink dial?

Agree Very strange in deed; I’m still waiting for mine so not sure what that means for outstanding orders!

It has been discontinued, at least that's what the word on the street is. There's been several discussions on it already. Heck, there's even another thread going right now about it.

If somebody finds an AD who can get them one, I would be surprised based on the comments from our members around the world who say otherwise.

As for outstanding orders, I'm not sure. I would communicate my concern with the AD and see what they can find out for you. Good luck!

It has been stated in many different threads that the blue dial GMT has indeed been discontinued.

My guess is it's in preparation for a new Coke bezel WG version next year

My AD has confirmed this and it was not on show at the Baselworld Collection dinner we attended a couple of weeks ago either.

Here’s my take. It cost too damn much thus was a slow seller. The SS version for less than a third the price is selling like hotcakes. Quietly discontinuing it is the easiest way to clear a slow seller off the books, versus lowering the MSRP or admitting they overestimated its market.
This is in no way meant to disparage current owners, it’s just way too spendy for most folks.

So if the blue dial version is about to become a ‘rarity’, I’d encourage owners of black dial watches to get the free dial swap while they still can

That's not a totally improbable opinion, IMO. I wonder if they've had second thoughts about the ability of the blue dial to adequately differentiate between the SS and WG models.

My take is it's between these thoughts and the possibility they're re-tooling it to roll out with the new movement.

It is a puzzling situation, for sure.

Everyone is looking for that rarity that will explode in value. Even if such a thing exists in modern Rolex, they will not likely live long enough to see it to fruition. Such a shame that people cannot see the beauty and the utility of these timepieces and instead either wear them as an exhibition of their wealth or treat them as a commodity. Too many here have their heads up their arses.

Some people just don't get it. We should inform Rolex that some threads on here state the contrary, maybe they will discontinue it

Source?

I have heard from a contact at a large AD that it's been discontinued. He heard it straight from the head of RUSA approx a month ago.

Another member heard direct from the head of Rolex Canada last night that its been discointued, but what would he know right?

Multiple posters have heard from multiple AD's across the world and the US that's its been discontinued.

No idea about the future and it does however make sense that all gmt s will be upgraded to the new 3285 movement. The blue dial WG still use the old one. The same applies to the BLNR and the LN that run the 3186 movement. Their should be an upgrade / new version one day.

Anything is likely to happen with rolex. Is there a white gold coke brewing for next year?

That would be a good way for Rolex to milk that desirable combination for a couple years before they release it in SS like they did the Pepsi.
