Finding Submariners in ADs

Is this easy to do? If you do find them, which ones do you find? SS, no date, etc?

I was just at my local AD yesterday. The only Sub in the case was a WG Smurf. The only stainless sports was one Exp. II Polar, and a Y-M II. I'm actually surprised they had the Polar; that wasn't there the last time I was in.

I was at my AD two days ago and they had a TT Sub in the case. Other than that just a YM, and varied Datejust.

Go and visit ADs and give it a try.
Lately I’ve seen the odd two tone Sub and the odd white gold.

The ones that are hard to find are steel sub dates 116610LN, even harder in my experience are the Non Date ones (114060) and the hardest seems to be the green steel model 116610LV.

I saw a Smurf in my AD's window last week. IIRC that's the first Sub I've seen in the window for over a year. Beautiful watch.

My comment above explained about them.

Black subs are steel date and no date models. They’re generally waiting list pieces.

I’d advise going to speak to your AD and joining the waiting lists, or since you’re in the USA, have a look at Davidsw’s website. You’ll pay over the list price, but that reflects the demand for these pieces currently.

In Australia you will not see one on display. Very long wait lists and a lot of ADs not taking names anymore

Sadly I echo what all have said. It’s almost impossible. The two ADs by me haven’t had one displayed in a year. Most are claimed as soon as they come in.

My AD had a Sub date and an Ln about ten weeks ago. Since then only a lonely Yacht master on OF has been sitting waiting for Christmas. They haven't seen an Expll for six months. They've only had a couple Milgauss and AKs in and they go away quick. Overall It's pretty much the same at all six ADs near me. My AD is a chain of three and he tells me people just walk out frustrated. It looks like a darker Christmas than last year for Rolex shoppers. If it were me I'd ask to get on an order list with a 25% deposit.
