Milgauss GV black - tinted crystal too dark?

Got myself a mint 2008 milgauss GV black dial. And after a couple wears I'm noticing I can't see the dial all that well in lower light situations. I never noticed this under the spot lights at the jeweler. Just seems in my normal day to day the dial is muted. Any one else notice this? I'm wearing my tudor black bay blue today and the dial just pops and is so clear and legible. Any similar thoughts?

I could imagine that the green crystal could disturb the color of the dial a little in low light conditions.

I have the Z blue dial no trouble here. I actually wondered if the green crystal would fade in color after years and years of wearing?

Yeah, the blue dial seems to almost create some brightness or "gain" for lack of a better word. Interesting point on long term fading, I wonder.

Definitely. The green crystal makes the GV dial harder to read in low light.

Most of area of the Black Bay's hands are covered by lume, so they are effectively white, whereas the Milgauss hands have a mirror finish and very thin strips of lume. The mirror finish reflects the dim room through the tinted crystal so depending on the angle, they nearly vanish. Mirror-finish hands are not really the way to go for maximum legibility.

The GV is a great looking watch though.

Haven't had issues reading the GV black in any situation yet but I am not in low light very often
I will comment that driving home tonight in a dark rainstorm the PCL bracelet and applied markers really popped under the sporadic, low lit lighting and really looked fantastic next to the steering wheel.
It was a new angle for me to enjoy the GV

My Milgauss GV (random) in certain light is muted but not in a bad way, because it has a split personality somewhat... it's subtle and understated in low light but spectacular in brighter lighting situations. This is an attribute I really love about this watch. And although muted at times, that green coke-bottle saphire rim always looks amazing in any situation. As for seeing the dial, reading the time, never struggled with this except in complete darkness.

Rolex claims it's fade proof.

I stated a long time ago that IMO the green crystal makes the black dial seem muddy.

Agree. It's sunglasses for a watch.

I've seen the black dial outside of the watch and it's much brighter.
