Forum suggestion - integrating a "thanks"/"like" button

So many times I see posts on the forum that are either great watch pics, hilarious comments, etc and I want to show that their post was appreciated. but, quoting posts clutters up threads.

an old internet marketing forum I was on had a "thanks" button, so when someone posted something great, you could thank the post instead of quoting it and giving a complement or whatever.

ive only been on this forum for maybe 9 months, so unsure if this has been implemented in the past and was removed.

maybe the mods could implement this? not sure, just an idea!

have a good weekend.

not if you don't quote the entire thing and also leave the pics out of the quote

A like button is lazy. Written responses on a message board is sort of the point

The reason my Facebook is so full of inane, mind numbing, IQ-lowering BS is a) because my friends are all idiots and b) because the “like” button encourages human beings - who are by nature needy and insecure - to post stuff primarily designed to harvest the little “thumbs ups” rather than stuff that’s useful or interesting.

Even though a “thanks” would technically be different, I suspect it could have a similar effect of potentially dumbing down content.

I'm in. And many a commenting option offer a Thumbs up/down option on the post. Maybe it's more difficult with this based template?

I don't think a "thanks" or "like" button adds a whole lot of value, but I don't think it's a bad idea. It's no worse than when people respond with "+1", "X2", or even just a single emoji.

I hate those like buttons, people press them of a bad habit and if they don't people wonder what is wrong. So no like button for me.

Just like Facebook?

Places that use these devolve into the grade school cafeteria. People competing to accumulate likes. It's a terrible idea IMO.

Have to agree and today most of the so called social media should be called unsocial media sites.
