Service before storing?

My FIL was cleaning out his home and gave his Air-King to my wife. He got it brand new as a retirement gift around 2006. He wore it for about 10 years off and on and then it's been sitting in his safe for the last 1-2 years. He said it never had issues, ran a consistent +5sec/day. He thought maybe the power reserve wasn't as good as when he got it new (it seemed to die quicker sometimes than he remembered), but he also wasn't sure if that was due to being more sedentary. I winded it up and it seemed to be just fine.

Anyways, for now neither my wife nor I have any interest in wearing it. It's a gift so we don't want to sell, so for now we are going to just store it away. I'm wondering if I should service it now (FIL never did), or if it would be okay just dusting it off and servicing it if/when someone eventually decides to wear it?

Leave it be. Just put it away until you decide you’ll wear it regularly.
