Not sure why the OP39 doesn't get the love it deserves from many on the forum. I love mine. It never looks out of place. As for color. If I had to choose only 1, I would go black but you might look into finding one with the Rhodium grey dial.

For me dissymmetry is not due to date. It depends on many factors. For example DJ41, in my opinion, has bigger case and proportions, which slightly loses the elegance of OP39. Take a look on photos above. DJ36 is great, but too small for me and Sub date is great, but too sporty for my needs. Till the Basel18 I was dreaming about Exp1, because of it's ideal size, proportions, etc., but then Rolex did these 2 OP colors, which are more interesting and elegant. You know, that Exp has simple black dial and OP has sunburst black, white is not simple too.

Only black or white. Rhodium no, because of these colorful dots, which makes the watch not serious.
I have found OP39 and Exp1 very comfortable on my wrist while trying them. What can You say about their comfort?

Nobody is going to be so close as to see the colorful dots. I don't even notice them on mine. But to each his own.

If there were no black or white OP39, I would go for Exp1. But now OP39 in these colors seems more elegant, versatile and strict.
Absolutely agree. I really like the simplicity and don't need a date (especially with a cyclops) . Much better all rounder than the "sports" watches and I don't like the bling etc of most of the other models when wearing a suit. I went for black as found it easier to read and more classic but the white also cool. You will not go wrong.

I like that

I hardly ever wear black.

Reading this made me realize that I myself mostly wear “earth colors” too.

Thanks for commenting, I feel like I picked up something new that isn’t watch related haha

Have a good one

In my opinion, black colour is more elegant than white. So, the black 114300 is the perfect complement when someone wears a suit.

I've tried them both on in person. The black is more "elegant" and dressy IMO. White has a open, crisp casual feel - at least that is how I interpret them.

Not the same watch, but this make me think white is just as good on suit

If I was wearing only the watch I would go for white dial. Wearing watch and a suit it would be the black dial.

Either works...however if you were wearing a nice suit out for the evening Black is a bit dressier. Of course- it’s not a dress watch. Throw a black strap on it and It would work as a dress watch. This day and age just about anything goes...including black rubber fitbits and apple watches on colored straps with suits so almost by default any mechanical watch will outclass the rest of the room, none of whom will care a bit what’s on your wrist.

How is the lume on these new OP39 black and white dials?

I have read they use the green Superluminova and not the blue Chromalite that is used on the Explorer and a few others.

I prefer and bought the white. The matte texture on the dial sold me and the sunburst like black dial was a little more formal than I wanted. Both are amazing, though. For me, the OP39 in these two colors is the hit of the year.

I disagree. A fully fluted DJ is a beautiful thing, but it does grab attention in the light. Some professions it is nice to fly your timepeice under the radar, or be less showey. I feel odd without what I consider a nice watch on my wrist after all these years. However it doesn't have to be something anyone else notices. An OP is suble enough not to be noticed, unless someone is looking. If they notice, then they will see what it is, but that it is the most modest of a showey brand.
