Is the 14060 a good "strap watch"

Hello!

I've been kicking around the idea of grabbing a 14060M as a self-funded reward for my upcoming MBA graduation.

Currently I have a Speedmaster 3570.50 and DJ 16234 (currently at RSC getting a new white dial and service).

I figure a 14060 fills in a nice missing gap of a dive watch. I have a Citizen Pro Diver I use at the beach, but this hardly counts as part of my collection.

My main question, per the title, is whether or not a 14060 is a good watch to wear straps on. As in---do most fit?

I have a nice horween collection of straps from Rover Haven, and rotating them on my Speedy is probably my fav thing about the watch. The Speedmaster has spring bar holes far enough away from the case to fit any strap.

Is the 14060M similar? Or, does it result in case rubbing for most straps? I realize I may need to get thinner, shoulder less spring bars.

I hate to just pose this question like this, but I can't just go try one on and see if straps fit.

Watches like the 14060 and 14060M straps are far easier to change because of the lug hole case, myself prefer them on there bracelets,although any straps are fine for a change.

The spring bars are actually pretty close to the case. 1.2mm thick straps fit. 1.5mm (which fits my Omegas) is NOT going to fit the 14060(M).

It's a nice watch to wear with straps but don't expect them all to fit.

Agree with the above. It's trial and error. The springbars are close to the lugs

Great answer 997.2 and timely question Watchguy31-us, I was wondering the same thing. Love the picture 997.2. Sub ND 2 liner, could you get any better?

A funny thing happened to me on Friday. I went to the AD to look at the Tudor Black Bay Black - which I loved. But the saleswomen was wearing a Sub ND - my eyes kept getting drawn to that and I made a few comments on how nice her watch was. To the point that she asked if I would like to try it on... LOL. Well that did it. Unfortunately they had just sold their last Sub ND - tells you something when they still have the BBB in stock and no Sub ND - well at least it was a sign for me. I love the Tudor BBB but now I am going to go get a Sub ND or a Sea Dweller - they just seem "right" to me. For me, the Tudor BBB was "almost a Rolex". In my mind, it seemed I was not getting what I really wanted. Which I have learned never works out well. (no offense to those that love the Tudor - it is a beautiful watch.)

Thanks everyone! I didn't really need much of a nudge, but I'm going to assume it will fit most straps.

I would imagine I'll wear it on the bracelet and NATO 9/10 days.

The Speedmaster is the strap watch :)

Rolexes seem to look best on their bracelets but the watches with lug holes definitely are easier to swap out. Having the correct tool can make any watch swapable. Consider the Tudor BB as an example of this.

I would not want to wear a 14060 on anything but a strap.

The bracelets which came with these watches are a freaking joke. I can't believe there are people who will pay the premium for those scraps. Get yourself a variety of straps and enjoy the watch. You can get a Bund-style strap, a NATO-style strap, a rally-style strap. The choices are endless.

I purchased a 14060M for work and haven't ever worn it on the bracelet. Zulu straps all day. The lug holes make changing the strap super easy.

After the first scratch, you'll learn fast ;-) That or pay your local watch shop to do this.

I wear my 14060 on a Zulu or NATO most of the time. I use a toothpick and can change the strap in a few minutes.

One thing to note is that if you want to put it on a thick Zulu then you have to pop the spring bars out, place the strap on the watch then pop the bars back in.

I've done this procedure with NATO, thick Zulu and leather straps. Never had a 20mm strap that wouldn't work/fit.

I did that and he charged me $10. Can pay for a tool real fast at that rate and that is what prompted the question.

IMO any sport Rolex looks great on a NATO...something about giving it a utilitarian look and keeping the focus on the watch itself really works for me!
