I am a Sub fan and can see myself owning multiple variations of the same watch, when $$$ permits.

I think it depends on the nature of your collection. I can see why someone might want multiple Subs of different generations, although I don't think my little "collection" will go in that direction. Currently i have a 16233 x series Datejust, along with a Black Bay and a Grand Seiko. While I imagine that I could make a whole collection of 36mm Datejusts (there are.a vast number of completely different ones out there, not to mention the DJII and DJ41), I simply am not interested in that. My interest is in a rotation with variety. My next planned purchase is either a BLNR or a polar Explorer II. After that perhaps a Sub to replace the BBB, but I'm not sure on that yet. Then again, I'm hardly in the same league as most of you, but I'd be the last to condemn someone for a different collection strategy, or, for that matter being a guy who bought a watch.

It is always better to have a pair............. It is the reason why I have two Milgauss (white & z blue) and two DJII( silver & blue).

I envisage a psychological treatment as a matter of urgency.

I think it is a reasonable proposition, I consider myself a collector and enjoyed variety, but equally I understand if you can afford it there is merit in having a bunch of collectibles of the same make, subs seems to be the flavour of choice.

Variety is key, which is why five of my collection are GMT's!

My small collection was a variation of Rolex models. Then I learned what I really liked, and have been gradually altering and consolidating ever since.

This pic was my collection three years ago...

Some people on this board have the collector mentality and some think less is better. I started down the path to a larger collection, but stopped because each additional peice wasn't bringing me enough additional enjoyment. In fact, I felt it was taking away from the watches I already had.

Daytonas are too good for only one. In general I try not to double up.

Neil, you do need a hulk along side your plain ole "blue sub"

There is another big diff. The second hand on the black Sub covers more of the E than on the green Sub.

Haha, you caught me there! I'm not even going to pretend to know why that's the case.

I have struggled with this....I owned a bluesy and a Sub at the same time but that didn't count in my mind as they are very different watches.

This concern is the reason I haven't added a BLNR to the group. I would hate to have two GMT's since I have a pepsi.

There are others who make a good argument for having multiples. One I could really see is a white and black Daytona or multiples in steel and PM. In the end to each their own though.

I'm in the same boat. I have a BLNR and a HULK and I wonder that they look too similar at times.

But hey, if you have the money and you want four Ceramic Daytonas...go for it.

My wife thinks the Sub 114060 and BLNR are basically the same watch, because the LVC is a different colour it's a totally different. That will do for me.

Just the D-blue and the black.
I was thinking of adding the SD43 but I think I'll pass. We will see.
A blue DJ41 is definitely on the cards for playing dress ups.

Multiple of "same" watch...

Years ago, I had a 14060, 16610 and a 16660 SD. Also, had a 16710 and 16750 GMT. Several multiples of the same watch across models.

I'm like you... i used to own a few sport Rolex that were basically the same watch with a different bezel or touch of color.

I moved on to other brands and kept one.

Each to their own. Have a Sub C Date which I think is just perfect. Get a tingling in the right one when lookin at the Hulk or BLNR or Blusey.... can see myself having at least some of these in future as well as the Sub.

Totally agree! Especially since you have the wrist for the SDDS, you'll definitely have the wrist for the DJ41. I, on the other hand will acquire a DJ36 since I have smaller wrist; my largest watch being the GMT C (and the speedy).
Cheers.
