How many watches do you travel with?

Hello all!

I'm heading to Paris and Nice next week for 10 days and contemplating how many watches to bring along. You'll notice in my signature that I only have 4 in my collection. I'm thinking that 2 is the right number, and leaning towards the BLNR (I think the GMT is a shoo-in when travelling), and the JLC for dressier evenings on the town.

I also really want to bring along the 1601 but wonder if it's maybe a bit much and safer to leave her back home?

Note: We'll be staying in AirB&B's and so I won't have the luxury of keeping watches in a safe.

How many watches do you bring along when travelling? Given my 4 options, which would you bring?

Thanks for your comments!

Matt

i usually take 3. Even if i'm gone for a week. Some people overpack shoes and i overpack watches. It makes me happy so i do it.

No access to a safe however and i would probably stay elseware, one watch is a non starter for me

If no safe is available I try to take one , which will fit all bills - either Sub or Pam works for me.

In your case if BLRN is too blingy shoot for the Moon with Speedy.

This.

I usually take only one. And discovered that the Speedy is the most versatile of all when travelling. Comfortable, could be sporty and dressy enough, iconic (you'll get noticed by those who knows about watches).

And hey, it went to the Moon! How much more of a traveler's watch can that be!

Just returned from four days in NY. Took my BLNR and Speedy on strap and wore both of them as desired. Made an impulse buy of a new Seiko Turtle on my last day so came home with three.

3 watch travel case. Hand luggage. I dont wear a watch into the airport so im not keeping track of the case and a loose watch at security. I only put one on after im through. No one has ever opened the case to look and its inside my carryon.

Depends on circumstance for me...
When I was in Italy last year I took one.
When I'm in Florida, two

If you're more comfortable with one, take the BLNR and call it a day. Enjoy!

When traveling, it’s only one. I’m sure Jewelers Mutual appreciates it.

How many watches do you travel with?

I take one watch and it never leaves my wrist

1 watch

The last thing I want while vacationing is to add the stress of worrying about securing watches.

Exactly this. If it never leaves my wrist I have no concern that I'll forget it, lose it, have it picked up by some opportunist thief etc.

Thank you!! thats a smart idea, putt it in the bag while u are going through , i do not want to have this shit. Do you think a pelicase is ok as a box, or would it be ''suspicious'' to carry it through the security in ur normal backpack for example, or briefcase.

Yes exactly, when you are travelling towards some country's you better be carefull.. I come in Portugal quite often, but i would not like to wear a expensive watch there in anyway…. But northern countries might be perfect to take 'em all..

Depends on the event / activities. One to three usually.

Just one.

because:

1. Safes (if there's no safe, hell no)
2. Leaving watches in hotel (hell no)
3. In your checked luggage? (hell no)
4. Hand luggage checks (hell no)

Same here but for an additional reason. Call me superstitious but when travelling by air (International/ domestic) it's the talismanic Speedy that I will always choose, touch wood but good luck seem to follow whenever I wear my Speedy( safe productive trips, no flight delays, nothing bad happens etc)

I am in Paris now. I brought my YG/Blue Sub and my TT white face SkyDeweller.

So far all I have worn is the SkyDweller.

I am on the hunt for the TUDOR GMT Pepsi while I am here.

Thanks for all of the responses guys. I actually wasn't expecting so many to say that they would only bring one watch!

I don't know if I could do with just one watch for 10 days

I typically take one or two. If it's a sort trip to NYC, I usually take only my GMT-II but if I'm going on a longer trip I will usually take two (always my GMT-
II and one other from my collection). I don't worry about my watches; they're all insured.
