WG BLRO dial change from black to blue

Today I went into Chrono-Time in Geneva. This is the one and only shop on the planet that is owned by Rolex. It is the proverbial “horse’s mouth”.

The manager confirmed that owners of the 116719 can have the dial changed to the new blue one free of charge. He said there is no time limit, but that Rolex will keep the old black dial, and one cannot change back to black.

Interestingly, he also said that he would not make the change if it were his watch.

What’s a thread without a picture?....

I heard the same and ADs who still have the black dial are encouraged to send them back to Rolex and have the dial changed out. It is the ADs choice and not mandatory.

Wow, that is surprising. The blue dial does nothing for me though...

Wow !!

I would change it in a heartbeat !!

IMO, the 116719 BLRO with blue dial is unquestionably the nicest Rolex watch ever.

I would be very happy if Rolex had kept the Black Dial on the 116719 and released the 126710 with the Blue Dial

I wonder why this is a desired action by Rolex. Is there something wrong with the black dial?

I think we need to specify which Rolex service centers will honor this policy.

Rolex USA seems to have different rules than the rest of the world for sport models.

I would definitely change to blue. Red/blue with black combo doesn't do it for me.

Yes....I was shown a blue one. First time I’ve seen it IRL.

Personally, I prefer the black.

My 1972 Red sub was purchased at Chrono Time. I plan to visit them one day from Canada and share the watch and story with them.

I'd really be tempted, but I think all WG owners should kick up a stink to Rolex and insist they are allowed to hold both dials, that would be a great result.

I'll change in a heartbeat. It's very nice blue saturation. Looks awesome. And distinguish the watch from other BLRO.

Wow - I never knew Rolex had a store in Geneva.

Do they struggle to get all the latest Basel releases as well??

I'm not aware of any RSC's that offer this. As someone else has pointed out, this is for AD's who have the watch in stock, not owners. Either the OP or the manager has got this wrong.

With respect, this was a very specific conversation with a long-term employee of Rolex....the manager of their one and only shop. I was wearing my black dialled BLRO, he was showing me the new blue one.

The offer is open to all owners of black BLROs.

Rolex will change the dial to the blue one FREE OF CHARGE.

Rolex will not let you keep the black dial.

Once you have had it changed to blue, you cannot go back.

I cannot make it any clearer, and I have not got this wrong.

I don,t own any gmt but if i had the white gold with black dial then i would take the offer to change to blue, with the blue dial i think it takes the model up to the top level looks wise, i have always thought that was what was needed when Rolex released it in black. I think this is an offer that only people like ourselves will know about.
