Patek service centre turnaround time

Hi,

It’s been four weeks since I took my Patek Calatrava 3569 into my local AD for a service and was told I would know in a few weeks the extent of the work needed and cost.

As I had not heard anything I contacted the AD for an update and they have asked the same of the service centre.

Anyone had recent experience of getting a watch serviced and what was the timescale?

Rhone do a great job in the UK but obviously we are in difficult times. Last watch I had serviced was quoted at 12 weeks and came back in 8.

Thanks. So 20 weeks overall?

Seems my AD is a little out of touch with the current situation as they are still saying 3 weeks for a quote.

Much better, in my view, to deal with the RSC directly.

RSC? Assuming it means Rolex Service Centre so not much good for a Patek.

As your watch is over 20 years old, it will be sent to Geneva for an estimate. The estimate can take 4-8 weeks. The estimate is $500 and will be applied to the service if you go forward. Patek will also give you an estimate of how long it will take to service. The last vintage watch I sent in came back in 37 weeks. Keep us in the loop.

No, 8 weeks in total. Estimate was 12 and it arrived early.
Interestingly this is a Gondolo from 1997 and it was handled in the UK.

The last two U.K. services have taken 10 weeks but on one occasion the AD chased them up and hurried it along, one of the watches had to go back and have more work and that took six weeks, check your watch over thoroughly when you pick it up.

Mine has the 350 movement which I am not sure is handled in the UK.

11 weeks.

The service center sent it back to Geneva. If they’re able to service it locally then I would say 8 weeks.

Same here.
But it was a fairly basic 5127.

3.5 months for my service

Of a almost 30 year old perpetual calendar - they quoted 4 months. Was sent in mid July of this year.

Got an update today from the AD.

PP say, as expected, things are taking a bit longer due to Covid and that they have my watch in Geneva.

The UK service centre is shut. I enquired from my AD a week ago about a battery change on my wife’s piece and they confirmed they can send the piece to Rhone where it will be received but that the centre is shut during the current lockdown. I assume this means no communication from Geneva during this period.

I would have thought communications would still get through as a lot of places still have call handlers working, though many from home.

Looks like, from the graphs, that Switzerland is having a second spike too so likely seeing increased restrictions at the Geneva end.

Good job I’ve no events for the foreseeable future where I’d want to wear the watch in question.

Currently it’s illegal for me to leave my city for anything other than essential travel.

If you plan on having it serviced, next summer is OUT.

I wouldn't get your hope up. My experience with vintage service is it's getting longer not shorter. As I had mentioned in my previous post my last service was 37 weeks.

And you don't yet have an estimate after 11 weeks.....
