Dear All,

I am looking an Omega for daily use, which one would you prefer ?

1) Planet Ocean 42mm

2) Speed Master Pro (moon watch)

Thanks for your advise !!

i would say a planet ocean since it's self winding and you don't have to worry about winding it everyday like the moon watch

however, for heritage and a legendary breed, nothing beats the moon watch in the current omega line up

having both and i think its the 42mm PO for me. the fact that it has saphire crystal would be more useful for me.

the hesalite crystal on the 3570.50 will probably only last me a week or two..

.I had the Po and flipped it. Much prefer the Speedmaster...

If I had to wear only one every day...it would still be the 3570.

Same here, between the two, I would go for the speedy

I don't either (I have an Omega SMP)

However, both the watches you mention have completely different looks & either would be an excellent daily wearer

Maybe PO slightly more sporty looking
Speedy maybe more dressier ?

Let us know what you go for !

The Speedmaster...only because it's more comfortable, less heavy on the wrist for daily wear.

Both have the classic timeless look.

The logical suggestion would be the Planet Ocean - sapphire crystal, self winding, built like a tank, and more waterproofing than you could ever need. But you could easily wear the Speedmaster Pro every day too - nice and slim, discreet, and if you're worried about the hesalite scratching up, invest in some polywatch and it'll always be looking perfect

Love the speedy, it was my first proper watch. However with the work I do, no way I could wear one on a daily basis, so would be the PO for me, nothing like the sapphire glass and proper water proofing.

I'll vote for the PO. Only because I wear one lol

Actually, I was thinking long and hard about what watch to get next after my SMP. It came down between the Planet Ocean, or the Speedy Pro. I wanted this watch to be my daily driver. And, since i swim a bit during the warmer seasons, the Speedy was already pushing it's limits. I eventually went with the PO because:
1. You don't have to wind it like you do the Speedy (I'm not a big fan of having to manually wind your watch)
2. I can safely take it swimming or diving whenever I choose without worrying about water leaking into the case.
3. Felt better / more of a presence on the wrist.
4. Screw-down crown (see reason # 20
5. more of a "modern" design
6. Better Lume

I MIGHT eventually pick up a Speedmaster in the distant future, but for now, I am MORE then happy with my PO. For MY personal use, I just could not justify using the Speedy (while is a GREAT watch as well in and of itself) for my daily wearer.

Also, just so I'm not biased, I might as well throw in the things I DO like about the Speedy :
1. Classic, Timeless look / design
2. VERY solid / rugged movement
3. "the space watch" (how cool is that lol)
4. has a chronograph feature
5. while it has a "plastic" and not a sapphire crystal, you can easily buff off the scratches on the Speedy, making it look like new in seconds.

I vote for the PO. I love mine to bits.

A different league - they cost twice as much in the UK now as a PO with the Rolex price hike.

I actually have a GMT IIc and a PO and I tend to wear the PO more often - it's a beautiful watch in my opinion with a very simple clean look, good bracelet and spot on size and weight.

Reason: because it can take a beating.
