Trading a Daytona into a Ceramic Diver
Looking for opinions on the 15707CE Ceramic Diver, which I've never handled in person. Appreciate all input!
I have a couple of Daytonas in the collection and am considering trading a black dial 116520 (December 2016, one of the very last ones) + a little cash for the ceramic diver (2015, LNIB). A couple of pics, just because (the Daytona is mine, picture of the AP from the web): |

I would absolutely do this trade. Depending on how much cash is involved. I feel the Daytona is overrated / and severely over priced on the gray market (as many AP pieces are as well). But you will find the level of finishing non-comparable to a 12K Rolex. Can’t go wrong with that CE diver.

I’d get rid of that Daytona, it’s one of the lame ones - no where near as cool as the Zenith before it or the ceramic after it. My wife had this model before I changed it a ceramic one.
The ceramic Diver is very cool. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I've owned the CE before and would absolutely do this trade if you have other Daytonas. The look and feel fantastic on the wrist... as long as your wrist is big enough (turns out mine was not and I let it go)

Personally I think daytona’s are way over rated (probably going to be shot for saying that !) so obviously I think you go for it.
If it does not work out then that model is pretty easy to move on. So limited risk trying it out. |

If it makes any difference, the other Daytona in the collection is a white 116500.

Honestly I’d move that 116500, because this 116520 is out of stock and this black dial is way more elegant than the panda ceramic bezel, which is still in stock and you can find it again new in the future (depends on the relationship you have with your AD). That ceramic diver is very very very nice, so go for it ;-)

I've never handled the AP before, but the orange accent really makes for an attractive watch. I hear they wear they big, but seems like most APs do anyways.

I've handled that AP and it is definitely cool but it would be pretty tough to let that Daytona go

Ceramic fucking diver. One of the few watches I’d daily and pay retail for. Can’t believe I just admitted that.

CE diver looks absolutely superb. I’ve never tried it on in person, probably a good thing as it may make me want to switch from inox to CE !!

Im getting close to four years of ownership and I can confirm it's a great daily! Mine had a hard life and it still almost looks like new.

The issue for me has always been the price tag... $24-25k is just tons of cash. There’s virtually no way around spending it to get the watch. I couldn’t believe how good it felt on the wrist. I’ve tried on thousands of watches in the $10-40k range... wrist feel on the ceramic is just worlds better than virtually everything. On top of it all you get a date window. A date window! No matter how many Daytona’s I buy and trade none have featured that damn window.

I just got the ceramic diver. Such a fantastic watch. Different than anything else in my collection, and it feels so nice on the wrist.

Do it. I didn't even keep my Daytona for a year. All hype. AP is next level.

I always see ap as a step above Rolex, both in horological significance uniqueness and as an enthusiast brand...shows you're a watch guy

If you have a “couple” Daytona’s in the collection I do t see why not. Unless you have an absolute affinity for Daytona’s which it sounds like you don’t, variety is the spice of life.
