Further to this topic, and as a post-script on the original review, I finally saw the Deep Sea Sea Dweller in the flesh last week.

You can clearly see the original Sea Dweller DNA in the new Deep Sea. There is a brawniness about the watch, an overdeveloped feel about it that really marks it clearly as a step above the regular Submariner.

I eventually traded my Sea Dweller since I found the lack of a cyclops made it too hard to read the date. When I saw the Deep Sea, everything that I loved about the Sea Dweller came flooding back to me in a wave; the thick bracelet, the heavier coin-edge bezel with the correspondingly deeper facets, making for a more light reflective surface that is unparalleled in low light. The matte black dial buried below so much sapphire crystal, the thick, beefy case.

If you can deal with the date window sans cyclops, I will still maintain that the Sea Dweller or the Deep Sea are the watches to beat when it comes to the sports models of the Rolex line.

If you have a Sea Dweller, cherish it. They're a beautiful design.

What a beautiful chuck of steel. A true classic in the Rolex line and hopefully my next watch. Your review only reinforces my love of this watch. Thanks!
