50th Anniversary Classics

Both the Rolex Submariner and the Omega Speedmaster were issued in 50 year Anniversary editions. For me, they are 2 of the most recognized classic sports watches.
The 16610V Sub was originally introduced in 2004 in recognition of the introduction of the Submariner in 1954.
The Speedmaster Moon watch was introduced in 1957 and a limited edition of 5759 pieces of the 50th Anniversary Speedmaster was issued in 2007.
For everyday wear, I usually install the black bezel on the Submariner Date. This makes the 16610 Submariner unique since it uses a Rolex maxi dial.
I really appreciate the sapphire crystal that was used in the 50th Anniversary "Moon" watch since the originally issued hesalite crystal is so easily scratched..
Next time I am in an Omega boutique, I hope to buy an Omega sapphire back and create my own unique "sapphire sandwich" Speedmaster.

I had the 50th anniversary but the wording stating "only watch" kind of put the nail on the coffin for me to sell it and pick up the original 3570.50.

Great watches with great history I know that people always talk about how easily the hesalite crystal scratches, but I've had mine for nearly three years and it's still scratch free.

Was the 16610V Sub a 50th anniversary Rolex or was that only the YG model with the green dial?

A Moonwatch with a saphire.....
changes the look and feel of the watch completely...
IMHO this is a crime and all the 'LE' of the Speedy have diluted the effect of the 50th anniversary. On the other hand I reaklly like what Roley did with the 16610 LV. Do not destroy that by putting a black insert, please...
