Just tried on a YG Daytona with a Blacklip pearl dial at Congress Jewelers on Sanibel this week (I liked it with a brown croc strap). BEAUTIFUL ...sorry no pic.

Tough call. Very tough indeed.

Completely different vibe and feel between those two watches. Are you more sporty or live by the ocean? Then I would perhaps go with the Daytona.

Hard to beat a YG Day-Date/President though. The quintessential gentleman's watch, I particularly like the stick dial myself.

Then there is always the happy compromise - 116718 18K GMT! :-)

or vintage, of course!

The Daytona, wonderfully beutiful piece that it is can certainly be worn with a suit and makes a statement but is more at home in a casual setting with folded back (or under) cuff, open collar or perhaps short sleeves.

Age, I suppose makes a difference as well. A twenty year old with a DD could be presumed a poseur whist a Daytona works with the young and the experienced.

Having crested fifty a ways back and being blessed as to own both of the above I offer these comments as to my perspective as to the statement they make to others. With that said, if you wear the watch you want for you then my comments merely wasted bandwidth and you have to go (as you did) with what speaks to you.

Theres also something to be said for having a gold (or other precious metal) dress Rolex and a SS sport model for weekends and casual wear.

Not to be hypocritical, I think I'll wear my SS Daytona with a suit tomorrow.
That is a well stated opinion. I believe I'll do the same.

This reminds how I think certain watches fit on certain persons. Like the other week, I met a distinguished grey-haired Japanese gentleman. I think he was an architect. All dressed in black, very classy. Of course, rocking a (36mm) Day-Date on president bracelet. It worked very well, e.g a gold Daytona wouldn't IMO.

Oh well, rant over.

Also, I like to buy watches in gold, but is it worth it to spend the extra money with a Rolex? I really like the Daytona in stainless.

Which Roles is the hardest to get right now?
I brought Daytona first then subsequently DD...Cheers!

That is stunning, however I believe it is 36mm and looks way to small on your wrist. 41mm at a min, 44mm would be best.

Ahem.... Nice comment, seeing as he's already got the watch. 36mm looks fine on his wrist. It is the original, classic day-date, and looks good....well, everywhere.

I would go YG President white dial with Roman numerals or WG Daytona.
