Congratulations ! Wonderful watch my friend , sometimes people notice I am wearing
my beloved 1675 ( 1967) and ask "Is that a real Rolex ? " When I answer in the
affirmative , so many of them pull back a cuff and proudly show me...Sw--ch,Sek--da,
Gu--i or a Ł10 copy from Hong Kong...."this keeps better time than yours and it only
cost me Blah Blah Blah." They just don,t get it....do they ? Wear it in Good Health !

Thank you Steven!

I completely agree with your words.

I´m glad you liked the watch and its little story. I´m enjoying it a lot, and feel owner of a little bit of Rolex history.

Best cordial regards, Abel

Great story, and even better, fantastic watch!!! Enjoy it in the best of health!!!

I always loved the 5508 and for the longest time I though that it was the model used in the early Bond films....I will always think of them as THE original James Bond watch.

Hi Renato: Thanks for your kind words.
I see you got a 5508 too.
Yes, it is not exactly THE Bond watch, but it is very close, and it gets all that special and exquisite flavour and look of vintage Rolex watches.
Also, being from the year 1958 (I was a 10 year old kid then!) it is pretty close to the introduction year of the first Sub: 1953/54.

Thanks AndyPandy and Gelshocker for your kind comments too!
Very cordially, Abel

woot... super nice watch.
am i colour-blind or what?
the markers on the 5508 are turning from patina to red?
is that a new evolution for 5508? wow.
if it does turn red...i think they will get very very expensive.

red sub (1 red line)=$p
drsd (2 red line) =$p x2
red 5508 (12 markers red) =$p x 12 ???????

wahhahahah
these days..collecting rolex is like collecting pokemons

Absolutely beautiful. A piece whos rarity is exceeded only by it's conditioning, Or is that vice versa? You get the idea, great find indeed.

To Samt: Hello! Thanks for your kind comments. Patina color is not well shown in my pictures, due to my difficulties with illumination. Reddish hue may be for the tungsten lights used in my fixture.

It´s true color ressembles a coffee and milk shade, a bit towards lightbrown darkening. No red shades. It´s very nice anyway.

Datejust1: Hola Gaby! Muchas gracias por tus buenos deseos!

Daytonamania and Willie: Thank You!!

Thanks everybody for your nice comments, and good wishes!
Enjoy you watches friends!
Very cordially, Abel

I am happy for you, this is a great day when you can obtain an item you have wanted for a while. I felt this way when I bought my Shelby Mustang. Way to go, great photographs as well.

Hello Richard!!
Thanks for your kind comment.
Shelby Mustang did you say? Wouw! I love Mustangs!!
Now, I see you well understand what means to get something you Really wish!
Congrats, and enjoy your Shelby, and your Rolex.
By the way, I got an old 66 hardtop Mustang! Not a Shelby of course, but same family tree!
Hope you like it!

Would love to see a pix of your Shelby!
Very cordially, Abel

Did someone say Shelby? Mine is not a Shelby, but a '67 Mustang fastback modeled after the '67 Shelby in Gone in 60 Seconds. That one wasn't a real Shelby either, it was designed and updated by Steve Stanford and Chip Foose. So in essecence, it's a "clone of a clone".:

Hello Renato!
That´s an awesome car of yours! Thanks for sharing! Yes, I saw that pictures some years ago. I loved these scenes with that car (Eleonor I guess was its name i I can well remember). I suffered a bit seeing how they treated it, but ends ok for the car anyway.
Thanks again! Cordial regards, Abel
