Very nice story, Abel: thank you for sharing it with us.
These iconic pieces are what make collecting so fascinating, I have a similar search ongoing for a straight lug older speedmaster: it's very much along the lines of a no-guard submariner, true classics.

I can relate to the longing feeling, the itch that won't go away.
THE only thing that can satisfy you.
That's why Vintage Grails are like human, imperfect but you love them nevertheless.
Congrats for the finding and what a great story!

It was said nobody reads these anymore, so I am going back through them. This is an awesome post and review. I hope to be able to own one of these some day, maybe once the kid has finished college and I have some disposable income, but for now I must be happy with my modest 5513. Cheers to you Abel for this post!

Hola Steve!!

Thank you so much for your kind words! I´m delighted to know you enjoyed the reading, and liked my 5508. All these kind comments received after my initial post, add to the charm of owning this fine watch.
I also presnetly own a 5513, a replacement to my first 5513 and my first Rolex, which I received as a present from my parents, in 1966.
I find the 5513, like yours, one of the more iconic and beautiful watches ever made, and one of the best variants in the Submariner evolution.
Enjoy your beautiful 5513, and thank you again.
Kind regards, Abel.

Hola. Beautiful watch and great story. I was in Argentina 2 weeks ago and had the chance to walk through the very nice antique district in Buenos Aires on Defensa from the Plaza de Mayo down to the other end. There was one nice vintage watch store where they had a Bond Sub and trying it on was a thrill (feels like history on the wrist).

More than the watch, I'm excited for you. You're a great salesman and that come through your writing. Congratulations on the watch!

Hi Maxtor!!
I´m glad you enjoyed your visit to Buenos Aires.
I know very well that little shop you visited. I made some nice great discoveries there!!
I´m delighted to know your thrill in trying that vintage no guard Sub you mention. I´ve been trying it myself!!

Brandon: Thank you for your kind comment. I enjoy so much to write, and specially about the objects I love. As a matter of fact, I´m a part time writer.

Thanks again, and believe me I enjoy so much sharing my time pieces and experiences with you friends!
Very cordially, Abel.

Very nice indeed!! Congratulations on the acquisition. Your Submariner has a beautiful patina...wonderful!! I see you have all the other original Bond goodies to go with the watch. Patience and good contacts are a must when trying to get a watch such as this. I can only dream of owning one like it one day. I suppose many are just sitting in bank vaults waiting to be re-sold one. Enjoy!!

Hello Chuck!! Thank you so much for your nice comments, and I´m glad you enjoyed my writings.
Yes, you are right, patience and good contacts, are needed by every collector.
But also, some dosis of Good Luck!
I got just a few other Bond goodies, but regarding the Aston, I could only afford a little one

Anyway, I´m very happy with this watch, dough not exactly the very same reference number Connery used in the movies, it is as close as it can.

You are also right that many of these watches are still in bank vaults, waiting for his owners decision to sell them (or their heirs decisions) in a near future.

Thank you again, and receive my best cordial regards, Abel.
