Getting the Omega Itch

Just as the post says I’m getting the Omega itch and I’m stuck on these., I have an Omega Seamaster AT GMT but really like the looks of the Planet Ocean series

Going to be a few more months as I’m hoping to get a good Christmas price of some sort so waiting towards the Holidays

Here are my choices so looking for the good and bad on both, I have been super pleased with my AT GMT

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean ( steel )

https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/w...442101002?ab=1

Then I have this one in Titanium

https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/w...442199001?ab=1

And finally this one

https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/w...442201001?ab=1

Just my personal opinions.

I like the look of the titanium. It's a little harder to read, but that just means I get to stare at the watch longer to tell the time. While I like the black dial, I like the titanium because it seems more unique.

The oreo bezel PO--I really like the look of it, but IMHO it sort of defeats the purpose to have a GMT function on a dive watch. The bezel can't be used safely as a dive timer because it's bi-directional. For pure aesthetics though, it is definitely striking. And admittedly, between my dive watch and GMT watch, I do find I use the GMT function a lot more (I don't dive with my dive watch, so it's moot). If you travel, the GMT would definitely be useful. BTW, Tim Mosso did a review on it a while back.

The black and white ceramic bezel on the 215.30.44.22.01.001 is a killer!

So tempted...need to go lie down until it goes away.

Good luck! Keep us posted...

Not the third one because it doesn’t have the rubber insert in the first quarter of the ceramic bezel which is an awesome feat.

First or second. It all comes down to weight and feel so try them on and see if you prefer the heft of solid steel or the flyweight titanium. Titanium can feel a bit cheap and plasticky for a metal but looks pretty different. Tough choice but a side by side comparison with one in each hand should settle the matter.

The PO Chrono looks even better still!

I like the titanium....the pop of orange really brings it together.

Every time I see a Planet Ocean with an orange bezel and markers on someone's wrist it strikes me that I need one. The configuration I would buy for myself is the first link in your post (steel with orange bezel/markers). Omega makes a strap for that watch that's black with orange trim, too.

Overall, I’d go with the titanium one, since titanium. And the orange. It’s a bizarre watch in a good way. If you try the steel one it’s hefty. When you pick up the ti watch the heft doesn’t match the size of the watch. It’s not as light as a gs snowflake but then that isn’t rated to 600m. I like it since it’s different- ti, clear caseback, rubber in insert, and rare. Ive been prowling the internet for reviews- the steel PO gets lots of coverage, but not the ti. And they all get even less compared to a sub. Hodinkee, watchtime, etc- it’s like they have to review a sub or Rolex diver every 6 months. The 2 drawbacks are thickness and cost- $2300 price premium for the ti version and lousy resale value.

If it’s steel, I’d go with the blue one.

The gmt is out since I like a bit of color.

I’ve heard from the local ad that the PO chronos are not selling. So if you like that you might be able to get a better deal.

I like all of them. I think it will come down to personal choice. You can get a good discount now on any of these watches if you shop around. I would look pre-owned and save even more.

Thanks for the info gents, the Mrs said she likes the TI one because it has a lighter face than my other watches but as pointed out the Ti commands a much higher price and on the resale side it’s most likely not recoverable

The Oreo one is very different but I honestly keep coming back to the first one and I have located that one and it’s never been worn with all tags from a reputable source

Not going to get into a rush on getting as they all offer a unique look so I guess I will have to really think about it, I’m sure the quality is excellent on all three

They're all gorgeous! You can't go wrong with any of them...the Pyeongchang LE included! Maybe I should upgrade my 213.30.42.40.01.001 to one of these.

I am thinking I will visit the local boutique here in Houston to try several on and compare side by side, I do like a heavy watch but I’m also liking the lighter colored dial on the TI version

Been looking and looking all day and a member here pointed me to a PO steel version that’s never been worn from a reputable seller and all I can say is it’s at a great price but the Mrs likes the titanium version better but it’s quite a lot more than the unworn one from this seller, resale has not been an issue so far as I have never sold any watch but I don’t want to be upside down either by over paying so what do you guys think or does it honestly come down to what my pocket can afford.

The titanium one can be had from gray for 30% lower than the AD and comes brand new with the full Omega 5 year factory warranty and so does the unworn steel version but as I said the titanium is a fair amount more so if I go that route I have to justify the additional cost in my mind but as my Mrs pointed out most of my current time pieces have a dark dial face ( blue or black ) and she said the PO with the partial orange ring and grey dial really stands out so I have to make a hard choice guess

I have had the pleasure of owning both the steel and titanium models. I enjoyed the steel for some time, but the weight and size got a little heavy at times. The titanium is in a whole different ballpark, especially on the rubber strap.

That’s what has my attention and that’s the weight, the heaviest watch I wear is a Citizens Eco-Drive BL1258-53L, not sure of the weight but it’s pretty beefy but I don’t mind it, I’m guessing with the rubber strap if feels like wearing nothing ?

I have the 42mm titanium with the 8500 movement. I find it very comfortable on the bracelet. It’s an awesome watch. My point is, I would go for the titanium model as your wife says. A picture because I like to show it off.....

I have the ti chrono on rubber. Extremely comfortable and my daily "beater". Just stick with any of the 215.X Gen 3 versions if on a bracelet for the micro adjustments. I have a mint 2019 blue dial coming in this week. Complete and will be priced right.

I've tried on the third option (black and white bezel) and found that it seemed VERY thick even compared to the other PO models. I thought it even looked a bit awkward because of it's thickness.

My favorite is the second link in titanium.

I also tried on the Oreo bezel GMT and I noticed it was way to thick for me. It was thicker then my Titanium PO and it wasn't comfortable for my liking so I passed on it.
