Hi I am new here, I have a 1967 18k yellow gold datejust with a bark bezzel and bark jubalie band. does anyone have any idea if there were a lot of these made? i rarely see them with bark.

anyway it is way too "gold" for me and i want to maybe trade it or sell it to get a stainless model.

does anyone have an idea of what a watch like this is worth? i took it to J. Brown in Baltimore (big rolex dealer) they said $2000.

sorry if i am posting this in the wrong section but again i am new.

Welcome to TRF. I haven't seen too many (or any) YG DJs. Are you sure you don't mean a DD (Day Date). Those come in all gold with bark.

If it's a DD, it should be worth more than $2K. But remember, J. Brown is a jeweler; they're looking at it from the perspective of what they would give you on a trade. They would turn around and resell it for at least double what they give you.

I would take it to an independent appraiser to get a real value. Or you can go to e-bay and see if there are any comparables being offered.

Remember, though, you can't sell here until you meet the minimum requirements for posting on the FS Board. And then you must follow the rules there.

the day date says the day of the week at the top correct? mine does not. it just has the date under the bubble. looks to me like a datejust?

As I said, I haven't seen a YG DJ, esp. a bark one. That doesn't mean they don't exist, though. Do you have any pics of it?

Don't clean it except with soap and water you will remove the natural patina,which on gold takes years to form.I have full bark
DD,1979,and they cleaned the clasp and it doesn't look right,and
probably won't for years. Bob

thanks for the tip. what should i use? dish soap and a toothbrush? is that to abrasive?
