1st purchase...Price of Oyster Perpetual

Hi all...wanting to buy my first Rolex. I would like a Rolex just to wear on special occassions but to also have a Rolex to pass down to my son/grandson, hopefully starting a family tradition. I am very simplistic in my choices, I am looking at the Oyster Perpetual 36mm in Blue or Steel. I don't care much for watches with dates, days, big buttons, I like sleek and simplistic.
Question is...can anyone give me an approximate price on a watch like this or even a price on the Air King and Explorer models as well.

Also I travel a fair bit, Vegas last week, Toronto week before that, Montreal this weekend, Paris next week. Are Rolex prices pretty much similiar everywhere you go or should I shop for a Rolex in a certain country or even a duty free somewhere? I live in Canada, maybe I should just buy local thus having a local dealer to deal with my Rolex if any issues arise.

Thanks in advance and hoping to join the Rolex family soon.

P.S. I hope I am not crossing any lines on here by asking about the price of a new Rolex.

Can you give us a basic budget range? There's a nice explorer listed in the classified here if your budget is in that range. Many great watches and sellers are here in the classifieds. Welcome and enjoy the hunt.

PerryJ...Thans for your response. My budget is 6k-8k. I have looked at the Rolexs in the classifieds but honestly when I get my first Rolex I want it to be brand new, mine and mine alone. Something I, Dad, pass on to his future kids and grandkids. So 6k-8k is my range!

Hi there...welcome. :-) MRSP in Canada for an Oyster Perpetual is $5800. You might be able to knock some of that down, just go to your AD & ask. ;-) If not, no big deal. You can order from anywhere else. Plenty of AD's in Toronto will negotiate with you. ;-)

The Oyster Perpetual is an excellent choice, easily in your price range. The Explorer, likewise excellent and affordable. Even a stainless steel DateJust might be had for around $7k, depending on how you outfit it. All fantastic pieces, enjoy the search.
