Any Day Date experts out there?

An acquaintance just offered me an 18k yellow gold Day Date for $5600. Only have phone pix so far and am told it's an 1807 from the mid 70's with a recent service. Will try to post pix when my IT gal(wife!) gets home. If anyone wants to pm me their email or phone # I would love a knowledgable opinion before I see it in person. Thanks all.

Price wise, it really depends on the condition of the watch. It might be a good price or way too expensive. Pics will help.

Yep, president bracelet included and from what I can see it does not look stretched out a ton. Doing a little research and have seen some crazy stretched out bracelets out there!

There are sooo many different variations out there and be hard to comment, so far the price given is not bad, but without good pictures it's hard to say.

Please post some pics.

the 1807 with Bark bezel and band

were not much in favor last few years with many melted for gold. If the piece is very nice and bracelet not over strectched and you like it, it's not a bad price.
If it has a dial with color, red, green etc. (Stella) it is worth more. Scans will help with the experts comments. Good luck M

It's not a nightmare . . . .
Its feeling, touching and having fun with a watch.
It just takes 2 minutes to get all set up . . .

We'll it doesn't bother me . . .;-)

Well with bracelets costing at least 3k you can't really go wrong if it is really a Rolex.

Sounds like a great reason to fiddle with your watch if you ask me. Wish I had one so I could experience the "nightmare".

?

You realize this is the vintage forum, right...

1807 barks are awesome. The truth is they are out of vogue and as such are getting rarer everyday!

Price sounds decent but as others say it depends on condition...

Pics of 1807

Here are some pics of the Day Date -- not the best quality, but hopefully it represents the piece appropriately.

That is a neat old watch. I'm not versed on these but I like them a lot. I'm curious what the experts will say. Curious why the Bracelet isn't Bark like the Bezel. Ones I've seen usually had Barked texture on both. I would love an old classic like this to wear on occasion.

There is some work to be done if you want to get it back in 'new' condition.

Some polishing will do the job.

If you like the dial and the bezel . . . . go ahead !

Thanks for the pictures.

Honest,...I wouldn't personally go for this one.

As mentioned before, there should be a Bark bracelet as well.
The Bracelet end pieces/fit to the housing is a shocker, would get the Bracelet checked if it is genuine, there was never a bad Fit End piece/lug/housing on the DayDate.
Dial is nothing special either.

There are much better ones out there, just take Your time.

The end pieces could be folded back into the correct angle . . . could . . .

The bezel can be changed . . . . .

Dial . . . if you like it . . .

Maybe Kiwinz is right . . . there are better ones . . . but at $ 5600.00 . . . maybe try to get it for $ 5 K . . . .

Is the bracelet an original Rolex President or an aftermarket . . . if aftermarket forget this Day Date completely . . . than I wouldn't even spend $ 5K . . .

If I was you I would go and find a really good independent watchmaker who can help you with this watch . . . you'll really need him . .

Or send it to an RSC . . . and pay full price . . . in this case I think it will be at least another $ 1000.00 probably $ 2 K including service you'll have to add to the price of the watch . . .

It al depends what you are looking for meaning the condition . . . and what budget there is available . . .

Just my .02

Good luck

Just because it might be a good deal doesn't mean it's a good deal for you. This example isn't the best either. If its a DD you want, keep searching. You will find your watch and when you do, you'll know it

Actually, it wasn't something I was looking for or wanted. It just came up. I was thinking IF there is alot going for it, which I have no idea since I know just a bit more than nothing, then sure. I mean gee, a gold Day Date for what seems like a bargain, why not? Now I know! Since I am not looking for a project and it is not on my must buy list think I am gonna pass. It was fun though taking a crash course on Bark bracelets, quick set, 1807, invisible clasp etc! Thanks all for your help and informed opinions, I greatly appreciate you taking time to help this noob!
