Has anyone bought from chrono24?

I'm looking at buying my first rolex from http://www.chrono24.co.uk

I was wondering if anyone has bought from there, and what your experience was like. I know it depends on the actual seller.

Payment is via an escrow account.

Yes

I recently bought a 1940's 3139 Army with a salmon dial from them. The dealer was Elements in Time, in NYC. Very helpful and courteous people. The watch was as advertised and pictured. I would deal with them again.

BTW I live in fly over country so its rare that I am able to go to a large city, let alone an Authored Dealer

I have it went great just research your dealer try to stick w trusted sellers that have been trusted for at least a few years also if they have what I believe is a green shopping cart Chrono24 will mediate the transaction and secure your funds

Depends upon each particular merchant. They are different businesses that advertise there. Some better, some worse.

As others have said, chrono 24 is just a website for many sellers. I bought my DeepSea BNIB from The Watch Club advertised there.
Chris at TWC was excellent to deal with and I could not have been happier with the service I received from all at their boutique.
Buy the seller and all will be fine.

I use it to find watches to go and see. I wouldn't buy from it yet as I'm not sure of how chrono24 mediate problems. I know ebay favour the buyer heavily and it's quite an easy process. Anyone had chrono24 step in and how was the return and refund handled?

I bought a 114270 from an Italian watch maker that was listed on Chrono24. They were legit and the watch was better than expected. Research who you are buying from. Apparently these guys were the best and oldest in Rome. I'm sure there are horror stories out there.

Asking about Chrono24 is like asking about eBay - it is seller specific...so most of the responses make no difference.

Watches Of Westminster is also a seller on the internet in addition to their listings on Chrono24. Best to research their ratings on internet as well. Some U.K. Members may have better experience with them. Simon Whitelock is listed as the owner so you might check the personal angle as well. The mantra is "buy the seller first".

I've bought from Watches of Westminster quite recently (via listing on Chrono24) and transaction went smoothly (F2F deal) and watch was as described.

Purchased once. Went smoothly. I did it via a well rated seller who used the Chrono24 escrow checkout, so they didn't get their money until I confirmed with Chrono24 that I had the watch in hand, and it was exactly as described.

I am negotiating a sale with a private seller overseas whose ad is posted on Chrono24. Since it is a private seller, the folks at Chrono24 said that their escrow service is not available to me because the private seller is not a "Trusted Seller".

Does anyone have a recommendation for an escrow service that they like? I found one called escrow.com but I found a number of negative reviews. I read something recommending against using PayPal as escrow for anything > $249.

Did you have a chance to look over the "trusted sellers" here on TRF for the watch you are after? I'd have to think that the trusted sellers here on TRF can definitely find the same piece, and compete price-wise. Why take a chance with a website that takes no responsibility for its sales, and now you are opening escrow accounts! Wth!? It doesn't have to be this scary for you, or difficult.

Good luck
