There are still her tears drops on the lapels from the trauma of the experience.

If I was to buy another leather jacket it would be more Nehru collar than any other style.

As for leather chairs, I prefer our Ekornes to an Eames for comfort. But the Eames has a unique design element to it.

Thankfully living in California, warm jackets are not really a necessity, although flame retardant ones seem to be.
Yes, you can never get rid of that jacket Great story

weird light in the last pic...backing is solid blue. You can pick all leather colors, interior fabrics/colors and stitching colors too!

Very cool Larry Lamb?

Horsehide is a different wearing experience from other leathers entirely ... it’s like riding a pony vs. a bucking bronco

Very nice guys, great looking jackets. I especially like JP's (I think it's the color as much as the cut). Plus, he and I have a similar build. I'm thin for an American. LOL

Many years ago when I was a consultant, I had a suit tailor made for me. It was (natch) very expensive, and it has since shrunk a bit, especially the jacket because I have been going to the gym for the past 20+ years and so either my shoulders are getting fat or I actually built up some muscle... but I digress. It was by far the best fitting and best looking suit I've ever owned. We don't wear suits any more, except for funerals and weddings, so there's no point in it. But a nice jacket like you guys have, yeah, that I could justify. :)

Thanks for sharing.

For non-motorcycle boots I would recommend giving Viberg a look.

https://i.imgur.com/9txafF9.jpg

That or Truman Boot Co or Whites Boot CO. All three basically the same type of boots just that Vibergs are my favorites. Truman does give you some interesting leather options however.

For a bit more dressier vibe Crockett & Jones is always a good pick.

Yep! I believe he works with other leathers too. In California light weight and soft are great.

Means a lot to me my friend thank you.

I've heard I should have used some products on it from time to time but I've never used anything. It's natural wear right there and I agree it has worn beautifully. If a piece of clothing can be someone's best friend, for me this one surely is. It even has its own special place in the closet. Thank you.

Hey Jason, just seeing this now!

Here area few pics of the Imperial now that I've worn it for about 4 months (haven't worn it in a few weeks as its too cold now ) Terrible pics, but you get the idea...

This shinki oil tan is really beautiful. I've decided to get another one and am going to have David tweak the pattern just a touch for me. I learned a lot ordering this one and I think the next one will fit even better now that I've got a better feel for what I want.

The FL has been a great place to learn for sure!!

Down the rabbit hole, huh???

It will be hard to improve on the look of that one.

What are you looking to change? I could see the chest coming in a bit but I sure like the fit on the shoulders and the length of the sleeves and body.

Rabbit hole ... love that term and very appropriate

Interesting observations.

The jacket feels snug in the shoulders but feels perfect in the chest ... I was going to add 1”. Then I was going to see if he’d be willing to change the silhouette to a slightly less hour glass shape. Maybe more like a Hercules. I think John Chapman has a Hercules pattern that’s beautiful. You can see it if you look at his sale page (have to scroll down quite a bit).

I know he’s going to rolls his eyes at me ... but I want the same color, same liner, same hide with these changes. Then I think I’ll have reached jacket nirvana

Oh my... you should check them out: Himelbros.com

The Shinki Horsehide (oil finish) he uses is one of the very best IMHO. The top tier makers apparently have their own recipes and are not all the same.

Jasonindenver here may know more ...

The fedora lounge is also a great resource.

Aviation Leathercraft bespoke

This is a library photo of my beloved Aviation Leathercraft flying jacket,

Its a reproduction of a 1940's USAAF A2 Flying Jacket, at the time they offered a bespoke service so I was able to order my jacket in Black Hide,

I've owned mine for over 15 years and its still in mint condition.
