Nice what kind of hide is that?

Hey Jason ... I forgot to ask, what type,of hide did you decide on for the Aero? I love the seven design, especially the zipped sleeves

Nice. I hope you have worn that at least a couple of times. My jackets tend to start looking a little defeated after 2-3 years. Hoping my next horsehide one turns that into a positive.

The Shinki Horsehide (oil finish) he uses is one of the very best IMHO. The top tier makers apparently have their own recipes and are not all the same.

Jasonindenver here may know more ...

The fedora lounge is also a great resource.

to be honest I dont really know, They manufacture for RAF Squadrons and the Red Arrows, take a look at their web page as it states :

we’ve built quite a reputation and we’ve done that by making some of the country’s finest leather and sheepskin flying jackets. Our jackets can be found around the world: owned with pride, respected and typically, like their owners, mellowing gently with age. Please enjoy browsing through our site - maybe you’ll find the jacket you’d like to grow old with!

Sure its my go to jacket at the start of the winter months, and you can really tell the quality as the back panel is one whole piece, Cheers "H"

I've been looking for a Goodwear for along time and in this style! Horween mustang horsehide to boot!

Not my pics, but too excited not to post. Should be here in days! Cheers!

I don’t know but something about this one seems extremely appealing to me lately.

Congratulations in advance Jason … I really want to try one of his Cossack jackets in Buffalo hide. It looks amazing Please update this thread once it lands. Maybe we will turn more of the guys here into Leather nerds

I went a different route this time … I thought I’d try The Flat Head single riders jacket. I’ve heard really great things about the Shinki they use on the Fedora Lounge.

As with all Japanese brands, I’m nervous about the fit, but figured I’d give it a go. I bought through Rivet and Hide in the UK so I can return it if it doesn’t fit.

I think you are skinny enough to pull that one off.

I would love to have a teacore shinki jacket but I just don't wear black much.

Post photos when its in!

CXL is pull up leather. I have a good number of CXL boots and shoes and all of them are extremely pliable.

My two favorites are both flight jackets. I bought the first one, a repro U.S. Navy G-1 (goat skin), several years ago.

The second one I bought a couple of years ago. It's a Perrone Professional Aviator's Flight Jacket, and they're issued by a number of U.S. carriers.

I mostly wear the Perrone since it's extremely comfortable and a little more under the radar.

It's weird being the same age as old people.

That is beautiful!

I love the A2 look but have always hated the knit cuffs on the two iterations I have owned.

Thanks, guys.

Not leather, but my MA-1 issued to me in 1962 has been tough as nails for sixty years, and still looks great. Even the knit cuffs show hardly any wear.

Wow, there are very cool jackets here! As with many things though, like sneakers, they don’t suit my personal style, which almost completely eschews streetwear for the woodsier side of ivy. Anyway, it’s almost always very hot where I am. I envy your jackets, and the cooler climate in which to wear them.

Hey Jason, the eagle has landed. I posted a more detailed review over on the Fedora Lounge but here she is.

All I have to say is that this shinki is the best I've handled (in my limited experience). Its substantial but very pliable right out of the box. It has a lovely hand and grain is already starting to pop. The sheen is incredible and it's already developing tunneling on the sleeves after just a couple of wears. Oh and it has a fantastic aroma!

Outstanding!!!

I think the fit is spot on and that leather will start showing some awesome graining in no time. The French seams justify the price as well. Those will really pop when the tea core starts showing through!
