Hey Jason ... I forgot to ask, what type,of hide did you decide on for the Aero? I love the seven design, especially the zipped sleeves

to be honest I dont really know, They manufacture for RAF Squadrons and the Red Arrows, take a look at their web page as it states :
we’ve built quite a reputation and we’ve done that by making some of the country’s finest leather and sheepskin flying jackets. Our jackets can be found around the world: owned with pride, respected and typically, like their owners, mellowing gently with age. Please enjoy browsing through our site - maybe you’ll find the jacket you’d like to grow old with!

I don’t know but something about this one seems extremely appealing to me lately.

I went a different route this time … I thought I’d try The Flat Head single riders jacket. I’ve heard really great things about the Shinki they use on the Fedora Lounge. As with all Japanese brands, I’m nervous about the fit, but figured I’d give it a go. I bought through Rivet and Hide in the UK so I can return it if it doesn’t fit. |

I wonder how long it would take to break in that CXL.

CXL is pull up leather. I have a good number of CXL boots and shoes and all of them are extremely pliable.

My two favorites are both flight jackets. I bought the first one, a repro U.S. Navy G-1 (goat skin), several years ago.
The second one I bought a couple of years ago. It's a Perrone Professional Aviator's Flight Jacket, and they're issued by a number of U.S. carriers. I mostly wear the Perrone since it's extremely comfortable and a little more under the radar.

I love the A2 look but have always hated the knit cuffs on the two iterations I have owned.

Thanks, guys.
Not leather, but my MA-1 issued to me in 1962 has been tough as nails for sixty years, and still looks great. Even the knit cuffs show hardly any wear.

Wow, there are very cool jackets here! As with many things though, like sneakers, they don’t suit my personal style, which almost completely eschews streetwear for the woodsier side of ivy. Anyway, it’s almost always very hot where I am. I envy your jackets, and the cooler climate in which to wear them.

All I have to say is that this shinki is the best I've handled (in my limited experience). Its substantial but very pliable right out of the box. It has a lovely hand and grain is already starting to pop. The sheen is incredible and it's already developing tunneling on the sleeves after just a couple of wears. Oh and it has a fantastic aroma! 20221117_105815.jpg20221117_105801.jpg Sent from my SM-G960W using Tapatalk |

I think the fit is spot on and that leather will start showing some awesome graining in no time. The French seams justify the price as well. Those will really pop when the tea core starts showing through!
