Worn Thread on Crown

So I took a watch in for service and the watchmaker has told me that the crown needs to be replaced because the thread is too worn... I was wondering if anyone here would know of a solution to this problem, as I'd like to keep the original crown with the watch rather than having to replace it.

Thanks

What watch?

I would suggest replacing the tube only.

Very often this will suffice. If the watch is automatic. You won't be unscrewing and screwing it all the time.

A fresh tube and new gaskets can sometimes solve the problem. Sometimes not.

Otherwise find a suitable used replacement of the same type if it is different than the current issue.

Like R.W.T., I was going to suggest a new tube, but if threads on both the tube and crown are worn, then both need replacement unfortunately. I'm not even sure if Rolex would even re-tap the crown threads, as there's not much steel to work with there.
