5712/1R vs 5990/1R

Am planning to get a full rose gold Nautilius and struggling between these two.
Has tried both at AD. 5712/1R seems more wearable in terms of weight and thickness but 5990/1R is just stunning.

Which one will you guys go for if you have a chance ?

Both are obv. amazing, however I would go for the 5712 as the contrast between the rose gold and blue dial of the 5990 seems a little strong to me. 5712 is much more elegant, which to me is exactly what PP should be. That being said, you will be one lucky guy regardless of your choice. Enjoy!

I like the 5712 but must say I like it in steel better.

I prefer the blue dial of the 5990 but the 5990 looks too big for your wrist.

Maybe it's just the picture angle, but they both look awfully big.

Maybe try a women’s nautilus given your small wrists

Personally, I would pass if I were you. They look way too big for your wrist in my opinion, especially the 5990.

Yeah. I would agree with everyone saying it’s too big. What’s your wrist size OP?

I wouldn't even care whether it looks to big etc, and no one else cares in the wild, I too like the SS 5712 more so I would go the 5990 and enjoy the heck out of it, super pieces.

A bit oversized is ok for me. I have both 5711 and 5740 and they all fit well on my wrist. My friend having similar wrist size as me also has a 5990, and it doesn’t look too big on him especially after taking some links away that fits perfect on his wrist.

Maybe is the angle of the picture and the full link bracelet in the beginning pictures that make the watches look “too” big.

Since you asked what others would choose for themselves, I will refrain from giving any opinion about what you "should" choose for yourself.

Between the two, 5712 has my preference in terms of elegance.

Looks great, it’s about the watch and the watch only.

They are both fantastic watches and you should choose the one you prefer. Take your time.

As for me, I would definitely take the 5712 for its thinness and the 240 caliber. I also have a small wrist (6 inches) and think the 5980/5990 will be too heavy thus uncomfortable on the long run for me.

If this isn't an issue, I would then consider which complication is more usefull to me (Travel Time and Chronograph in this case).

I'd get 5712/1R for myself as I much prefer the traditional 40 x 8mm size. Not interested in 5990 (or 5726 or 5980). The RG / electric blue color combination makes 5990/1R look quite loud (and worse from my perspective) compared to the steel variants.

I like the 5712 in SS; 5711/1r is nicer than 5712/1r IMO.
Based on your collection get the 5990/1r.

5712/1r all day everyday. A lot less nouveau riche.

They both look really big on you I prefer the rose gold and choc combo myself but I would be going for a smaller watch all together - if I had your wrist size.

I would go 5990 1/r

That combined with the 5740 you have the 2 best nautilus.

1 as far as grandcomps and 1 with the rose gold travel time function.

That’s just my opinion. I would think 5990 maybe harder to attain

5990 is wearing you , so take that out of consideration.

Even 5712r looks too big but manageable

Just saying how it is

In my brutally honest opinion, get a gold Royal oak. You say you have a 5740 so you have a pm nautilus. If you just want a nautilus in rose gold for the bracelet, look for Royal oak. If you already have a gold Royal oak, the good news is there are tons more Royal oaks in the catalogue. If you want to stick with Patek, go 5270 rose bracelet. Or a wildcard option woul be look at 4300v.

15202OR might be the way to go or the new yellow gold 16202 also beautiful

I agree with you, because I think pictures make many pieces look a bit larger than in person, plus you are okay with a little oversized pieces. Obviously these are both amazing, but with different characters given color and thickness. The 5990 is more sporty, while 5712 more elegant, relatively speaking. So I think it comes down to how you feel about the character difference and how you imagine wearing the watch usually. Can’t go wrong.

Thanks for your opinion.

A gold Royal Oak is also my target as I have Royal Oaks in different materials. Let’s see if I can get a gold Nautilius or Royal Oak first.

For 5270 I prefer 5270P

I like both 16202PT/BA/OR too
If I can get a full rose gold Nautilius I would like to go for a yellow gold RO if I have a chance.

Platinum jumbo is discontinued unfortunately.
