I actually just found another AD in Seoul with the 36m fluted bezel, ice blue, Roman numeral, available to purchase. Not my size, but I’m starting to think these are easy to find now

I can research this, but didn’t these only come on smooth bezels for a long period of time? Only somewhat recently did I think fluted bezel on Platinum DDs became an option.

I prefer fluted bezel on this model (as well as most Datejusts), but still think this looks great in most configurations.

I also wouldn’t dismiss the 36 mm size. Depending on how big your wrists are, I still think it’s the classic, elegant size.

I actually tried it on and while it was beautiful, it just looked too small on my wrists. Also didn’t feel as “heavy” literally as the 40mm did. Huge difference in weight. I daily a 42mm ROO and 41m RO so the 36m DD just looked off to me.

If anyone is in Korea, the Lotte department store in myeongdong has the 36mm platinum DD. And the Times Square mall in Yeongdeungpo had the 40mm platinum smooth bezel.

Strange, you tried on the fluted and then they said it's for sale right? Did you happen to try on the smooth version too? If not I dont get why the mixup.

Did they communicate the wrong item for sale or was something lost in translation and not understood on your end. Or maybe they changed their mind and decided not to sell the fluted after figuring out the demand on it.

Also from what I read on vat refund in Korea, rules change and there's a limit to the items purchase price that is eligible so you may not be able to get it.

Good that you passed if you didn’t like it. I personally think that one is beautiful and would’ve made the purchase. I like the smooth bezel variant that at one point, identified it as PT. That blue PT dial though….it’s special!

Ironically, I was reading this thread the whole time thinking too bad it isn’t the older style smooth bezel. I much prefer smooth on a PT DD. I do prefer the 40 though.

A beautiful piece but I can totally understand about the fluted bezel. At this high level of a watch and price, you really need to get exactly what you want. If you don't love every detail about it, passing was the right choice. Love that dial though. Deconstructed Romans is my favorite DD dial!
