The sight of a camera definitely and automatically brings out the absolute worst in children.

By the way, I've never been a "maternal" type and if you really want to know the truth, am not that crazy about kids in general. However, my own kids are a different story. I love them more than I could have ever imagined and think I'm a pretty decent mom. So don't worry if you aren't totally in love with kids... you'll love your own....

Hate to butt into girl talk but I agree completely with Lisa.
I never really knew what to do with kids and was never really comfortable with other people's kids.
But after having my own boy it's a whole different story. I spent all my time not working taking care of him. I took him everywhere with me even as an infant. We would go for walks everyday (him propped up in the wagon) and I read to him every night. I can't tell you how many hundreds of hours have been spent playing catch. Even now he's 11 and I tuck him in every night.
So you don't have to be one of those cuddly, mushy "kid people" to be a great parent. You only have to be that way with yours.

No worries

yea, i believe that you will have to experience it before we will truely feel the maternal (or paternal) instinct kick in .

Just that i am too afraid to take the big step.

i had sort of done it in the sence that i took a lot of responsibility in bringing up my brother ......

who knows ... anyway i am not even married so at the moment i can shout and say
"Who cares abt kids !!!!!" ha ha

Totally agree - at least it was the same for me. I think parenthood is one of those things you can't fully understand until you experience it for yourself. Pre-children, I never could relate to the sacrifices parents made in the name of their kids (although I could appreciate the concept, I suppose). Now, I am right there in midst of it all, enjoying the ride (and sometimes hanging on for dear life!).

Oh, and good morning, girls!

As I told Bo, my favorite gift was his post of the new Rolex catalogue! Hmmm.... I got some cash, and I'll have to think of something to buy with it instead of diapers! Truly, my Rolex purchases this fall were my early Christmas presents, so I want for nothing else.

How about you? And nice to see you again after your short break from the forums.

On the parenting front we have 3 x Boys 1@ 14 and 2@ 8 and we are both 34.

Its only now that we are just getting round to trying to establish a bit of a social life. The hardest thing for us - is trying to re-adjusting.
Raising the Boys came natural - its the trying to get some form of social life back, we find hard.

Hi, Stuart. Social life.... what a foreign term. Still, it's good to hear there is such a thing after having kids!

Ahh - and cash is nice, too! I found an iPod Nano under the tree, but usually we just buy for the house.

WOW Stuart! You're so young to have 3 kids at the ages you mentioned. Amazing!

OK, does anyone here like to cook? I'm doing up a nice prime rib roast tonight and I'm feeling a bit proud of myself. Although if I mess it up, there's $30 down the drain!
