Twenty-4 7300 for a man?
I’m looking at adding a Patek for around £15000/£18000, really want an exhibition case back so that rules out the calatrava 5196.
It doesn’t leave many options to the calatrava 5119, I know it’s classic but is very dated, I can’t help but notice the same size 36mm twenty-4 7300 series looking much better value with the 324sc movement and steel bracelet, yes diamond bezel is maybe feminine but at least it won’t scratch! I’m just wondering why it’s called a ladies watch and not unisex? After all Rolex datejusts/day dates are 36mm and are men’s/unisex. Any opinions on why I or any man go for the twenty-4 as a great looking value option?

You would not be the first man to have bought a Twenty-4.

Keep saving. Doors open with 10k more or so. Otherwise I’d rather have one of the many wonderful options from VC or Lange preowned.

There are some men who like diamonds or don't mind them and may wear watches with diamond bezel. The Twenty~4 automatic seems like a nice ladies watch though at a reasonable price point.

Depends on your taste, I wouldn’t wear one myself but to each his own.

Patek's setting for Twenty~4 line's audience is female......personally, I would not get one for myself even it is cheaper or suitable in that regard.......

If it floats your boat go for it, I'd wear one not sure I would buy one though, as a previous punter said by the Gondolo a beautiful grossly underrated watch imo.

"It's currently in 25 Bags? Wouldn't go near this personally, I'd get one in person. Last Christies auction was 20k all in USD (hammer plus buyers premium) and that was a good buy likely for a dealer. But, sometimes people get lucky.' This listing is way under all others on Chrono 24, the Christies auction I refernced and other resellers. Highly suspicious. They state "Have one to sell, we pay 75% of listing" (sic) So sounds like an attempt to buy others way under market. I love that watch and would highly recommend it to the OP. Wouldn't expect to get a good one anywhere near that price but, as I posted earlier, sometimes people get lucky. |

Yeah thanks saw that already it was more about the watch itself not necessarily from this retailer - the image came in handy since I had it saved. Seems like a good alternative for OP, no ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Before it was introduced there was a 5024 reference that was a lot smaller without the shaped movement and a solid back. If you look at these men's pieces you will see a resemblance to the 24. I think PP introduced the 5024 as a men's 24 watch then decided to beef it up and go all out with the open back and shaped movement of the 5124. Whatever the intention it is a killer watch. |

https://loupethis.com/auctions/patek...ld-salmon-dial I personally prefer stick index markers on the 5124, but those seem to command a bit of a premium over the Breguet indices. To the OP, how about 6000G? Also check out golden ellipse |

In general, timepieces are unisex but twenty-4 7300 series make it more feminine by having 2 rows of diamond on the bezel.

The twenty-4 series is not unisex. It is a very feminine watch made for women. The new movement is a nice improvement over quartz but if I were you, I’d take a hard pass. Look at some other options

It makes a big difference if there is 1 row with a few dozen baguettes on the bezel (thinking Day Date) or 160 (!) tiny diamonds such as on the Twenty-4 7300. I don't think that Patek works for men. |

Staring at picture of the twenty-4 7300, it's really the double-row of tiny diamonds that makes it read "Ladie's watch". Otherwise it's a pretty, but somewhat generic, nicely polished, classic-sized automatic. I definitely wouldn't buy just b/c it is available and more or less fits.

13.2K includes the buyer's premium. The winning bid was 12K.
On an under-appreciated reference like the 5124, the premium is likely <1K. The cheapest 5124 on chrono24 has a salmon dial. Also the yellow gold has dauphine indices, not stick. |
