Sorry Paul, didn't mean to add to the derailment of the thread.
I kind of forget the influence of video games as I haven't played them in over 10 years, but I definitely think you're onto something there.

I spent hundreds if not thousands of hours playing first person shooters in highschool. That definitely can't be good for social development. Especially from younger ages.

Maybe I was a bit "triggered" lol I just feel like we haven't been around long enough to screw everything up or share as much of the blame as we're handed.
We certainly face higher living costs and lower living standards than what our parents and grandparents were used to. Although I saw this thread more as an opportunity to make fun of the dumb things school age children and Gen Z / Zoomers do, as opposed to a serious discussion of those who came before us.

Who’s actually parenting to begin with when both parents work? I for one personally always believed this was a bad idea.

What? No. The greatest generation was the Greatest Generation aka GI followed by the Silent Generation. Boomers, no.

My apologies, I thought the Boomers were who fought WW2, didn't realize it was the generation that superceded one or 2 of the greatest. My intent was there

I blame my public education

The boomers are part of the “Baby Boom” that occurred when soldiers returned home from WWII ready to settle down and start families. It was also a time when the US economy was unrivaled globally, so the prosperity surely also contributed to bigger families through the 1950s

Yeah I thought they were called boomers because they started it.

I can still hear the voice of my history teacher echoe that the "boomers created all the cookie cutter neighborhoods in the 50s for their families they started after the war"

I seriously might have been taught wrong.

As a boomer, I am complicit in some of this.

No one is to blame.

It has been natural to claim the new generations are slackers for several thousand years. My generation was rioting in the streets long before you were born. The Greatest Generation lamented how bad we were and that America wouldn’t survive us. Now, they are mostly gone and we lament your generation.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Lol haven't drank in years, don't have any form of TV or streaming services, I drive 15-20yr old cars, is a galaxy s9 still current? haven't been on a vacation in years because I'm content where I am.

Recently cut weed out of my life to go 100% sober.

I'm actually very happy with my life believe it or not. Every day is a blessing when you're living on borrowed time.

I have no idea where I'm going, but I'm sure I'll know when I arrive.

If we were to group the Millennials and Gen Z together there seems to be a great divide among them all that isn't related to their generation. On one side I see the competents and on the other the whiners. There's not much of a blending of these groups. They all seem to be one or the other. The competents are impressive. I see "young-ish" people with great educations and common sense. They have a sympathetic world view and often care for their fellow man. They've never seen a minute of world peace in their lifetimes. These people are understandably concerned about their future security and are working diligently to ensure a solid, reliable future for themselves and their offspring. They eschew materialism. Their paranoia leads to them to favor savings or debt payoff over accumulating collections of stuff. They often resent the boomers who changed the world but then became the bosses and admitstrators who caused the high education costs and financial hardships they'll be fighting all their lives.
I don't worry about how they'll be running the world when I'm old. They're solid. I think generally they're pretty ok.
The whiners are another story. I wonder how the competents will deal with all the other people their age who never figured it out, assimilated, developed skills, joined in and contributed. There will be a lot of them. Everyone loves an outlier for a while but not forever.

Im of the opinion that every generation is the "greatest" generation. All have had to live through the worst and best of times. There are good and bad people from every generation. Wars, pandemics, discovery, technology, travel, space travel have all been endured or advanced. The young people of today are the future of our planet, I trust them.

The Greatest and Silent Generations had it right. We've been on the road to Rome for 70 years, and it won't take centuries to arrive.

How long does it take for a person to learn how to read an analog clock? Surely not more than 5 minutes?

Agree. The greatest generation moniker was just a book Tom Brokaw wrote as a love story to his grandparents. It was also very US centric.

It's doesn't really or necessarily work in other countries.

And in a hurry. His lawyer is already in his contacts list on his iPhone.

Soon as he goes down you may as well just call the moving company and start packing your shit up.
