Pics from a shoot I did the other day

This was a tough shoot for me.

I simply do not know enough about posing people and working with a 3 years old that had a case of RedBull did not make things easier for me lol. He never stood still so I ended up "documenting" the two of them playing so to speak, which actually made it somewhat easier for me since I do not like to tell people how to sit. I rand around a lot and shot from a distance, shooting as many photos a second as the camera allowed, hoping for some open eyes!

The camera, lens, flash and bracket assembly weighed right at 10 lbs. After half an hour or so, I was POOPED!!

Anyway, she liked the pics.

Love that kid's hair!

Enjoyed the photos, Chip. Nothing like mom and child pics.

Thanks guys.
They look a bit magenta here on my office monitor but the seem to be okay on my color calibrated monitor at home.

She asked if I can process in nice soft, warm pastel colors (seems to be popular now) so I had to learn how to do that in Lightroom.

ORIGINAL

I did a couple of versions, not sure which one I like better. The second is almost too soft.

nice pics , ive seen a lot of pros not turn out as nice , the thing at the moment in this part of the world is to just shoot a play session and crop to suit.
see ,venture photography lisburn , they do a lot of that , but i like your results better.

Thanks guys.

This is all new to me and something I'd like to get into for some extra income.

So far it's all been free work, trying to build a portfolio. This was my third or fourth shoot this year. I am still "shy" and not confident enough with the quality of my work to charge money.

If my name is on it, I want it to be the best I can deliver and something I would be proud to have my name on.

Not there yet, but getting closer and closer!

Well done Chip!
Those are all very well captured shots!
Did you only use front filled flash at some shots or there are reflectors?
For the pastel one I would put some vignette to make the edges darker.

No fill flash and no reflectors.
100% natural light, aided by lots of looking around for the spot that had the best lighting.
