My two patinated gentleman.
Their names are Edwin and Ed (the first was the name of the first owner that the 5512 came from):

I would like to say that there are some superb "mellow yellow" examples found in this thread. Everyone's a winner. I don't know about everyone else, but I would sure like to see more.
And a couple more from the Texas vaults. 1978 SUBMARINER 1680 and 1967 GMT-MASTER.

Early 1970s era US Air Force Navigator's 1675 worn for over 20 years daily until it stopped working in the 1990's... A recent overall and partial dial restoration by Edvi when he was with ABC.

Some wonderful stuff on display here. Love the Jo Siffert Autavia!
Most of my watches have cream colored markers, but this is my most yellowish one, in sunlight. Looks a bit darker in the shade. |

For crying out loud, please (carefully) snap that beautiful kissing 40 insert back into it's bezel ring.. It's putting stress on the most delicate area of the insert at the 12. Most prone area to snap. beautiful btw! |

Here's my contribution, pre-comex 5513...
I also have a MK1 dial 1675 but the markers are more of a "latte" color... |

The nipple dials are also prone to becoming "mellow yellow." Below is a 1970 GMT-MASTER 1675.

Most of these are on the wrists of their new owners (some here), but all are great examples of yellow patina!

Some lovely watches and the patina makes a difference.
Here's a question though: Nike and Adidas have started to relaunch some of their 70's & 80's trainers with an aged look because materials now compared to years ago are totally different and they do not age as well as they used to but there is a demand for an aged or archive look for particular shoes. If Rolex decided to do an 'Archive' or 'Vintage' look range with latest models having a patina look instead of the white we currently see would there be a demand? And how would you owners of these vintage/aged watches feel? |
