Like many have basically said, do not be a nuisance to them. It may just backfire on you, and have an unintended and unfortunate result. ADs are human just like anyone else. Someone perceived as a nuisance may well be moved down the list. It never pays having the attitude that the customer is always right, and end up pestering the AD.

If you already have good rapport with the AD, just drop by and pay a visit. I am sure they have lots of other nice watches you can look at, besides the one you are going to buy. And, if you see something else you like, chances are you will go back later to buy another, or your AD will see that you might be interested in buying from the again in the future.

They seem to be for sale here on this site fairly often, no?

I popped into my AD 6 weeks ago to be told I was 3rd on the list...Do you think I should call them again? Is it possible to call too much? Im clearly not a flipper and im just interested in owner the timepiece.

Opinions?

Don’t call them. Pop in for a chat. Look at ‘Christmas gifts’ for you wife and then ask how the list is getting on. Always better to build a personal relationship

Don't call. Pop in and see them in person with a friendly smile and have a chat about it.

its going to snowball when that happens. Its not a better watch than an explorer II to me and the only difference is demand is so high because you cant buy it.

Same thing happened to the GMT LN and the Sub C. They were not unpopular but they didn't fly off the shelf until demand went up because they were flying off the shelf.

People continue to think they are not there because Rolex isnt shipping any though which is nuts.

As much as I like other models, the GMT has significant history to me that is linked to my passion and other hobbies. I also work in the aviation industry so it's just generally suited to me.

Thanks for the comments, as tempting as it is to call every few weeks, I will hold off and pop in again soon.
