That could for sure happen, but I do wonder if there is some sort of agreement in place between Tudor & Bucherer. After all, it's not a LE - rather a SE that will be sold "indefinitely" through Bucherer...

Im so glad you are enjoying your watch, as I had been intrigued by it. But a recent thread on problems with the bezel or case scared me away.

I keep coming back to look at the pictures of this watch. I wish these were more readily available, as I love the bronze but am simply not a red/maroon person.

Wear it i good health!

So I found the thread you're talking about and posted my own thoughts on the topic and felt the need to mention it in this thread as well.

I LOVE this watch but at the end of the day, the issue is a serious oversight by Tudor's R&D and yeah, extremely disappointing.

I do have to (again) thank the OP for bringing it to our attention and I will not be subjecting mine to salt water. I do love salt water (namely the Atlantic ocean, Caribbean, ... ) and it really bothers me that I won't be able to wear my 5B the next time I'm out there...

Note to self: NEVER let go of my SD...

Nah, - Soda water & lemon juice. But please be advised this is a very mild form of treatment and won't work all that well (if at all) on a fully oxidized case... . Once we get to that point, we'll have to see... someone mentioned a mix of salt & vinegar but man... that's gotta hurt. Both the case AND our nostrils...

Hi Traveiller,

Thank you for a great review and - not least - some great pictures. I got a 5B recently and enjoy it very much. It is fascinating to see the patina grow.

As for the ‘reset’, could you help me with some details? How much soda vs how much lemon juice? How long should the watch stay in the fluid? How do you dry it off? Any special precautions I will need to take? What’s the best way to remove the strap?

Thank you in advance,

Claus

i really really really like the BB bronze

i recently bought a 2017 BB and love it. For the price the bronze is excellent.

Might be my next one.

Hope the alu bezel + bronze case doesn't give me issues.

Thank everyone!

@cfnissen, I'm sorry but I'm no bronze expert and I just squeezed one lemon in some soda water; exact measurements are unimportant. As I wrote, it will only work with mild patina. For tougher stains, you may need to resort to a more industrial bronze / brass cleaner. I haven't had to so far. (read: Google is our friend).

As for removing the strap... well this one has lug holes for a reason... but be warned that bronze is softer than SS and as you "drag" out the spring bar, it will leave a small mark on the inner-sides of the lugs.

Professionals always use a form of special "tweezers" which are used to evenly compress the spring bar on both sides... same tool used for non lug-hole cases.

Fellow 5b owner

Hey Traveller I am so glad I stumbled on your review, what an absolute delight! Especially the photos! I just signed up on this forum because of you.

Now why do I say this? I was fortunate enough to acquire a 5B myself just two days ago! So hello, fellow 5B owner :).

Now I told myself I want to document the patina development for my own enjoyment with a picture each day, which I then can string together (maybe a timelapse movie or so) and see how the Patina has developed over, say, 3 weeks or a month or so. Unfortunately, I am photographically inept and I was wondering if you could let me know how you managed those gorgeous pics. Do you have a professional lighting setup?

Also, have you taken your 5B to the water yet with the strap? I find it a bit unfortunate, that they deliver a diver on a leather or fabric strap, both of which are unsuited for water use. Any Information of how the fabric strap handels submersion in water?

Unfortunately, I am at awork and thus limited in time lurking online. I will take the time to read the whole thread later and maybe post a few impressions and pics of my own 5B.

Cheers.

Man that is one stunningly beautiful watch. I am a complete sucker for blue dials. Can you only get these by walking into a CB store, or is there a way to buy them on line? Do other dealers sell them as ADs or do can you only get it directly from Bucherer? Living in the US I wouldn't know where to begin.

You can only get them by going through Bucherer and inly in their stores (no online sales afaik). You're out of luck if you're in the US as Bucherer doesn't have any stores there. Also, there's a waitlist, so you need to inquire first.

Hey there! Welcome to the forums and to the "5B" club I'm terribly sorry for the late response but I *think* when I first saw your post I was not in the position to answer and somehow I completely lost track of it...

If you're going to take photos on a regular basis then it's best to resort to your smartphone and (most) smartphones can take a decent photo assuming you feed it enough light My suggestion is that you find a window with plenty of sunlight - one that you have access to on a regular basis (home / office) and that's about it. If possible, the window will be "adjacent to" a white wall to present a neutral background. Last but not least, a simple ceiling will help to avoid unwanted reflections. If you're in a office room, make sure those ugly florescent ceiling lighting systems are off!!!

That's all I got

I haven't taken into the water yet. I wouldn't think twice about using it in fresh water (river, lake, etc) but I would be weary about that strap in pools (chlorine) and even worse, salt water. Although a swim in the ocean followed by a relatively immediate rinse in fresh water should work, there's a thread here regarding "Galvanic corrosion" (I posted something about that somewhere above). It has to do with the fact that Bronze+Aluminum+Salt make for a bad combination... But I don't want to get into a debate in this thread... please Google if you are curious.

So once again, welcome to the club - happy to have you join us here at TRF

Hey Traveller
Thanks for the reply. No worries for the "delay". This is a forum not a business environment :)

Yeah, light. As always with photography. Somehow I can't make my iPhone do decent shots of my 5B. I have since abandoned my "patina project".

And I guess I'll be careful with water. I usually take all my watches off when I go swimming anyway, except maybe my Breitling Superocean.

Cheers and enjoy your 5B. I am so in love with mine!!
