Rolex date inquiry
Bought a new Rolex Date 34. It's now at +4.7 SPD. Wear it 14 to 16 hours a day for the last 3 months. Thinking I got a lemon. Your expert advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you are not happy with the timing, have it regulated.
You don't provide anything that could be interpreted as a "lemon".

-4/+6 is COSC right? Sounds fine to me. My Speedy at +10spd bugs me but at least it's not slow.

Try to adjust it by doing below instructions. If that doesn't help check if the watch magnetized by visiting your AD.

Give it 12 months.
It may slow down some more. There have been instances where these most recent models have taken quite some time to settle down. At least it's consistant by your account, and this suggests a high degree of precision. If this is the case, it's absolutely no lemon by any measure and can easily be regulated as required What do you expect? What is your acceptance criterior? |

Yes, but as OP stated it's new, presumably that means purchased new three months ago, which would mean Rolex specs of +/- 2 apply. +4.75 is out of spec, but certainly something that can be regulated. As Tools and Dirt said, nothing here indicates a lemon.

No harm in trying, but those instructions apply to older movements. If OP's watch is consistently +4.75, it's likely not magnetized, but again, no harm in trying. I think the best advice is giving it more time to settle in, and then reevaluating.

Appreciate your all's expert input! Sending watch to RSC, to be regulated.
Thanks again. |
