Rolex AD Playa del Carmen - Hulk

Hi all

I've just returned to the UK after a 2 week holiday in Mexico.

Whilst there, we popped into Playa del Carmen for a stroll around the shops and I couldn't resist popping into the Rolex AD on 5th avenue.

There was a decent display of watches in the case and despite having recently purchased a Hulk in the UK, I enquired about its availability with this dealer. His response was I have one in the safe if you're serious...

Whilst I can't guarantee he still has one, he did last week - but don't shoot the messenger!

Why in the safe if it was for a straight sale? Probably has terms attached.

I have heard in the past from various ADs that Rolex has instructed them not to put certain models in the case. I think it has to do with keeping up the appearances of scarcity. In the past I think this only pertained to the ceramic SS Daytona, but I'm sure now it extends to other models.

That's why it never hurts to ask, although unfortunately nowadays it seems that gets one more scorn from the employees than anything helpful.

I’m pretty close with most of my AD’s. The one I’m the least close to told me Rolex told them not to put in the case because they don’t want random people to buy and flip. First time I’ve actually heard that out loud. Bottom line without saying it they must qualify the customer to feel good that they won’t flip

Well that’s just either insulting or bad luck since I was there 2 weeks ago and they said they had no SS subs.
