Sell SS Black Daytona to fund Oysterflex Daytona
Hey TRF,
Currently own both the white and black 116500ln SS Daytonas purchased from AD in the past 2 years. I’m debating about selling the black dial to put funds towards an oysterflex Daytona everose gold or white gold. Is having the black and white redundant in a collection of 6 Rolexes (GMT sprite/Pepsi, black Daytona SS, white Daytona SS, green Sub, everose olive green day date)? I know it’s my decision but always like feedback from fellow collectors/watch enthusiasts. Cheers! |

Only thing I highly suggest is you make sure the Oysterflex "bracelet" is to your liking compared with the feel of the traditional metal oyster bracelet...
Many here love theirs and rightfully so, but for the life of me I just could not stand the fitment and feel of the Oysterflex on my wrist with the inner "fins" even after trying multiple bands to get the perfect fit at my AD for what it is worth |

With your collection, I would sell the black dial Daytona to fund either of those OF Daytonas all day everyday and twice on Sunday

The WG steel dial on OF is a special piece, super subtle look. I have SS and PM Daytona’s. Great to have both. Really like the OF feel on the wrist. It took a couple of days to get used to the fit and feel. I also have the earlier PM versions in YG and WG on leather which are amazing. Excellent condition, full set examples are out there if you are patient. Good luck.

For sure.
I own a 116500 white and an OF 519. I love them both, but the OF feels much more special. Don’t listen to people that say PM doesn’t go with rubber. Silly. It sounds like you’d trade your black dial for an OF version and still have the steel white dial? That is a much better Daytona duo than what you have now. Do it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have a white 116520, a black 116500 and the white gold oysterflex. Out of the three I wear the oysterflex the most.

I wouldn’t let the black 116500 go
If you had sellers remorse, would your AD would find you another? |

I would definitely sell the 116500LN to fund a new OF. That said, I would not chose the white gold given you already have a Panda, I would go for Everose, or my personal favourite a YG variant.

Wouldn’t do it.
OF will date the watch and not in a good way. Plus they don’t look very good. |

I prefer a full bracelet over OF but given your collection, it would fit in well.

Unless it’s beat to crap your black 500 almost gets you there $ wise. Hard to turn that down. Having said that, I am in the aforementioned silly camp that thinks rubber on PM is awful, much less dropping that kind of coin on a watch with a rubber strap.

I’m not opposed to trading the black 116500 with what you have I’m just not an OF fan. Good luck with your decision.

I like the look of the SS way more. Rubber and PM I am not sold on.

Clearly up to you, but I believe you are likely to regret selling your black SS daytona (I did a number or years ago to fund another). I should have waited until I could self-funded the new acquisition (which I could have done a couple of yrs later). And in this particular case, I too struggle with a $32k watch on a rubber band. YMMV of course

I’d be patient keep the black dial and over time add the RG OF you have pictured. The WG version to me is very nice but a tad boring. I have a YG Meteorite OF Daytona and the colored metal case really stands out on the OF strap.

I have both SS and the OF WG silver dial and I love the OF. I wear it more than the SS models. It is so unique and looks great. I tend to wear my OF the most followed by the white dial then the black dial. You don't have to worry about banging the OF compared to the SS bracelet. Hard decision for you but I think you will love the OF.

I also would keep the SS watches you have. I always prefer the full metal bracelet over any rubber strap especially on PM.

If you buy the oysterflex Daytona everose gold sell the black SS daytona.
If you buy the oysterflex Daytona white gold with white/grey dial sell the white SS daytona. If I were you, I would sell the black SS daytona to get the everose gold daytona. With the white SS daytona (a must have) you will have 2 very different watches. Just my 2c |

I think the OF and the steel make a great pair. But let's face it, so does the black/white in steel.
I guess I would lean toward adding the OF version bc it gives you a touch more PM in a steel heavy collection. (Not that there's anything wrong with that lol) Not only that, though. The touch more is, in my opinion, gives you a better everyday wearer than a full gold Daytona, especially if you go with the WG- which I would. Even a little less blingy than the steel w/out the PCL's. Again, my opinion. But really the bottom line is, you can't go wrong either way. Good luck, |

I would definitely trade one for either oysterfelx model.
I’d even trade them both for a full pm. Daytonas don’t do anything for me unless pm, especially at market value $ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have both and I don't know if I would sell the black to get the OF. They can definitely exist together in one collection, and I feel like I am wearing a different watch whenever I switch from the white dial to the black one. And if given the opportunity, I would also add the 126500 to my collection.
Having said the above, the OF is a great-looking watch and if you love it then you should make this move. Let us know what you end up doing
