I've noted several times that the Bond models of the Omega Seamaster have become the biggest selling Omegas in it's history..

But I gotta' ask............ what's the allure of the badged models.

Bond didn't wear a watch with a spiral "muzzle grooved" dial......he didn't wear one with a tiny 007 hovering off the backside of the seconds hand...

So, what's the allure of these "badged" models......They aren't really Bond watches, except for the symbols on them..

Has celebrity envy overcome good taste ?

Myself and a couple of mates were discussing this very subject today. We all thought they looked "tacky" (each to their own). I personally really like Omegas but would never wear one of these. Still my AD reckons they sell well?

May I ask how come the Bond editions are best sellers - when compared to the standard models the're based upon?

I reckon there can't be any more than 60 thousand Bonds out there.

That must be only a months Seamaster output?

I can honestly say i like the Bond Seamaster's. I own two. There unique in my opinion even though there not very limited!!

I have to admit, I didn't like them up until the most recent incarnations of the Seamaster and Planet Ocean. The Seamaster is a far more understated Bond limited edition than in the past, and I prefer the smooth dial to the wave dial personally. The Planet Ocean is very, very impressive in the flesh, the gun handle dial suits the watch perfectly, and the etched Quantum of Solace on the crystal is very subtle. I'd definitely consider buying either, they build on the design of two great looking watches, in my opinion.

No, no, no.... The Bond Seamaster, is the biggest seller ever, and now that the black PO is marketed in films, it too has taken off..
..
With those available, what I'm asking is............. What is the fascination with the badged or gimmicked editions of the very same models..... Bond never wore any model with 007 on the dial...

But, I suppose it's like buying a Grateful Dead t-shirt..the band doesn't really wear those either....

Couldn't buy an 007 badged model myself.

I was looking at a S/h olympic Speedmaster reduced a while ago, and while I loved the look of it, I didn't like the olympic logo on the end of the second hand - just seemed a gimmick.

I'm not a big fan of the branded 007 watches ethier. Way overpriced IMO. However, I do like the current "gun dialed" PO. Very handsome watch in person, and you can hardly notice the Quantum of Solace logo unless you look at the dial just right.

I've never liked the older incarnations of the Bond watches but the latest Planet ocean with the pistol grip dial is definitely more worthy of its limited edition status. It has a unique look from the normal POs and the Bond branding is ever so subtle!
