007 Ltd Edition Bond Omega

I had a look at the bond 007 Lts Edition watch today, must say I like it.

There are 100007 made for worldwide distribution, do we think that they will be a collectors item with that number or will it be a dead duck??

Thoughts and experience????

I think it's 10,007.

I have decided not to buy it as there have always been many 'limited editions' made by Omega which are not limited at all. Think about the Casino Royale edition of 2005/6 with the same 10,007 produced and the America's Cup limited edition as well. This will not be the last limited edition watch from Omega, that is for sure. I'd say that any Panerai would be more collectible than this!

Yes, they are limited to 10,007. In fact, there were many 007 limited edition seamaster's (two blue seamasters the first one being "007" etched all over the dial, the second blue one being where the dial looked like the barrel of a gun, the black PO with the red 007 second hand, and now the current black SMP). All of which I beleive were limited to 10,007 pieces, (hence "007").
The prices where too high IMO to justify buying a watch with 007 all over the place, unless of course your an avid James Bond fan, and likes to collect James Bond memorabilia. Other then that, they are not worth the extra $$$.

The Omega SMP is a little too common these days, that's why I've decided to give mine away. This 007 version costs a mere 100 more than the normal co-axial range. I personally don't think it's worth the price and with so many of these 'limited editions' around there's nothing collectible about it! I've seen one on an AD's window for well over a month already, for a little more money you can get an entry-level Panerai which is more highly sought after than any Omega.

I had two. One had a 007 number & sold it for alot more than I paid. Sold the other for more than I paid as well.

I own a 40th anniversary 007, but was able to get it used and in mint condition for about half of what it costs brand new. I will say the 300 SM non 007 are more common than the 007 edition. The one thing about these watches that I've seen, with each new edition 007 bond that they bring out they only make 10007 of them and eventually there all gone and you can't find them. You can always get a new seamaster 300 M. But on the other hand I've actually been waiting to get the call on a PO casino Royal 007 for the last two months from my local AD. But there aren't any in the hole company. So I believe there is a level of these watches being limited, because once there gone there aren't any more until the company makes a new version for a new 007 movie. I will say that if you re-sale a 007 you'd probablly fetch more it than if it were just a reg 300M, because of the limited factor.

All in all if you like the fact that it's a semi rare item and you like the timepiece buy it. But if your looking for something that's going to become more of a collectors item and fetch a lot more in the future. I'de go for something like a Rolex that you know is being discontinued or is limited like the Sub LV. I also agree with the others that something like an entry level Paneri would be a better "investment" for the money.

I have bought the new black SMP Bond 10007 edition and absolutley love the watch. The rumours are that in QOS Daniel Craig will only wear the PO but surely if Omega are selling a new black Bond SMP and advertising this on their site under Bond then this watch should be in the movie.

Obviously these are only rumours but if it is true that no SMP will be in the movie then I feel Omega may have misled fans with their advertising.

Any thoughts?

I don't think that the SMP will be in the new bond movie. From what most of us has seen thus far, Craig is only seen wearing the 42mm black PO with the bracelet.
