I like the look of it, but I’ve never been a fan of a 24 hour hand on a diver. That said, I do like the faux patina and the mesh bracelet. Jury’s out

Edit: had a closer look at that second picture ... suddenly no 24 hour hand ... now I’m in the i like it camp

Hey buddy, hope all is well with you!

There's no 24h hand on this one, maybe it's the picture.

As others have said, I love the look of this but the price is a real drawback. I understand that it's titanium, but would've preferred SS and a lower price point. Or, if it's going to be $9200, can we get a ceramic bezel?

Gotta say, I do love the bracelet though...

Faux lume and price are dealer killers for me. I'd be just as happy with any variation of the latest 300m. Glad to see it's not an LE though and that mesh bracelet is a home run.

Great watch but the price, double the Seamaster Ceramic, is ridiculous. And its not a LE so the price will drop like a rock on used ones by the summer. According to the boutique I called, the release is scheduled for Mar/Apr 2020. It actually would make more sense being a LE.

I'm a fan so far, the way the mesh is sized is pretty cool too.

Price is def a deterrent but with the right discount I may be a buyer....

Does anyone know what the significance of the numbers on the back are? Could 7697 be a reference to the number of watches being produced?

Wondering about the numbers on the back as well.

Caseback
Series of numbers follow for genuine military-issue watch format; “0552” is the code-number specified for Navy personnel; “923 7697” being the number for a divers’ watch; letter “A” is a code used to signify a watch with a screw-in crown; “007” is James Bond’s iconic agent number; number “62” is the year of the very first James Bond film

I really like it but think price is too high. I hope they settle in the $6s which would still be double what a ceramic sells for

It really need sword hands like old SMP300 had. The would have been very nice.

But, the huge problem here is the use of Grade 2 Titanium...especially if the screw down crown and tube are made with it. It is weak and inferior compared to GR 5 titanium...

Breitling used it a decade ago and the screw down crowns would strip out constantly. It was so bad they punted and switched to steel. Now they have another TI model (Bandit, but I think that is GR 5)....

Grade 2 makes it a pass for me...

The good:

- aluminium bezel
- milanese bracelet
- domed crystal
- the nods to the Ministry of Defence
- no date window
- not an LE

The not so good:

- price
- faux patina

Neutral:

- titanium

I think the price unfortunately outweighs all the good points.

Price likely won’t be an issue after discount in my view. If it settles to $6k I’m probably in. Otherwise it’s a no.

I never mind what's on the back. Not like I see it when I'm wearing it on when it's in the box/winder

$9,200.00USD (on bracelet) is a hefty price for an SMP. In comparison:
  • Regular SMP: $5,200.00USD
  • Titanium Chrono SMP: $7,800.00USD

They figured out if they give Bond a unique watch, not one from the regular Omega collection, they can jack up the price.

The watch looks more tool-like that the standard SMP lineup, I like that.
The colours give it a vintage look, very nice.

Far better than the 007 LE.

At first, no wave-dail gave me mixed feelings. I conclude this watch, in its design, quite possibly looks better than it would with a wave dial. I think its the vintage feel it gives, the wave dial wouldn't go as well on this one.

I like this watch and if it is as strong in person as it is in the pictures, to me, I am a buyer. I would get it on the mesh and add the NATO for a change up. I get the price is strong at $9200 but who pays retail on a regular production Omega watch? Once the folks that will pay full boat to have one of the first ones are satisfied, then the market will go silent at msrp. The cost to retailers on this piece is close to 5k so I can not see paying more than 6.5k for a new one in the box that is complete with warranty and manuals.

I’ll be interested to see what this price settles for on the used/grey market. I’m willing to bet 40% off.

Kinda like it, wife was not a fan at all, yet agree with others that OMEGA pricing seems to be reaching higher and higher. At nearing the same price, the limited edition OMEGA 50th Anniversary landing on moon timepiece in SS with epic packaging was an easy choice and got one of those recently from AD Mayors in Tampa, FL

Hodinkee has morphed into a bona fide watch retailer ( with no discounts) as opposed to an independent watch blog. I’ve learned to take all their reviews with a grain of salt. Disappointing.
